Mas du Soleilla - Narbonne

On the Clape Massif facing the Mediterranean Sea, in a romantic and wild setting, come discover the “Grands Crus”, wines of the Mas du Soleilla and stay in one of the five somptuous guest rooms. 22 hectars of organic production White and red wines...

Diversity is behind the character and riches of the la Clape vineyards. Although linked geographically, the altitude, sea influence, incredibly varied types of soil and varying outlooks, all add up a true mosaic of terroirs.

The average age of the vines from Mas du Soleilla is around 30 years and some are near 60 years. All vines are with high trellising.

The wines from La Clape closely resemble the vines, encircled by “garrigue” and pine forests – the rounded supple floral aromas have a powerful and generous supporting structure that enchants the senses.

  Specialties

The luxurious aromatic palette and the balance of wines of the Mas of Soleilla place this one among the big domains of Languedoc. Sunny, generous, perfumed by the scrubland and the sea sprays, the Mediterranean soil of Clape expresses itself with elegance and delicacy there, led by the spirit of Peter Wildbolz. Around the Mas, the long rows of vineyards undulate towards the horizon. Between the wine grower and the grape takes place a fertile exchange.

Every plot of land, every vine, every vintage wine, every day of the year introduce the man who sublimates the strength of a sun fruit. Peter Wildbolz surrounds with his attentiveness vineyards, cellars, grape harvest, wine to become there. Not of about, no fate. His work bases on the quality requirement and on its will to go at the bottom of things, in an initiative of organic farming. This requirement, this will, are perceptible in all.

The complexity of wines does not make them difficult to access: they offer themselves with thanks to your greed, that you are experienced amateur or a greenhorn. Their aromas offer the imagination. In mouth, they are fresh, dense, silky, and their finale caresses sensually the palace. Nothing aggressive or of rough. Nothing heavy. For red, crisping fruit, farandole of spices, floral delicacies: blackberry, raspberry, licorice, violet, iris, truffle … Freshness, curvature, velvety tannins. In white, exotic wealthiness and mineral delicacy: sweetness of the apricot, the crystallized orange, the vanilla, the distinction of the flint.

La Clape

La Clape

The La Clape AOC is located where the Coteaux du Languedoc and Corbières appellations overlap and is well known for its vineyards that lie on a limestone outcropping that extends across the entire region. The region produces red, rose and white wines that are fully representative of the region and the reds show particularly well, often times considered a vin de garde. The majority of the wines of Gruissan are produced on the Clape. This little mountain, situated between Narbonne and Gruissan was an isle at the time of prehistoric man. The Clape, gets its name from the Occitan word « Clapas » meaning a pile of stones, and reaches a height of 214 m. The pine trees cover the slopes of the Clape. The garrigue covers the plateaux and the thyme, the rosemary and the lavender that invite you to promenade are what give the wines their character...

The soils and ‘terroirs’ in the Aude area are very varied, from Schist, Sandstone, Marl, Gravel, Pebbles, Limestone, to Granit and Alluvial soil; thus making many marvelous and different styles of wine. Also in this massive area are many different grape varieties, the reds include Carignon, Cinsault, Granache Noir, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. The whites, Chardonnay, Granache blanc, Picpoul, Marsanne, Roussanne, Vermantino, Mauzac, Chenin and Clairette...

Cathédrale
Saint-Just et
Saint-Pasteur

Cathédrale Saint-Just et Saint-Pasteur - Narbonne

The High Gothic style of the Cathedral of Saint-Just and Saint-Pasteur takes its inspiration from the great cathedrals of Northern France. Its most striking feature is its unique choir, with vaulting soaring to more than 40 metres. It was built between 1272 and 1340 and remained unfinished because, in those troubled times, the Consuls refused to demolish the ramparts to provide stone to continue building. The side chapel, dedicated to Our Lady of Bethlehem, has a 14th-century altar-piece in painted stone. The Treasury, also known as the acoustic hall, displays a rich collection of liturgical objects, including ivories, gold and tapestries....
