Les Maîtres de mon Moulin overlooks the village of Cucugnan. It was restored in 2003 and began production in 2006.
The flour it produces is used to make bread, biscuits and brioches on site. An oven adjoining the mill was built for the purpose.
It is wood-fired, made of clay, and weighs more than 30 tonnes. A reception room for groups of adults and schoolchildren has been set up so that educational workshops can be organised.
There is a windmill with sails, manufacture of bread, cakes and cereals and much, much more.
Free tour of the whenn spending at least 15 Euros per family.

If passing that part of the world visit his bakery and taste the bread baked in his special wood-fire oven.
Words I associate with Roland are; passion, mission, generosity, kind, energy, leadership, entrepreneur, enthusiasm, devoted.
By now if you’ve been
keeping up with my week spent in
the village of Cucugnan here,
and reading all about my baking
with Roland here, in his
extraordinary wood fired oven
here, you might have had some
idea this was more than simply
about baking some bread.

Cucugnan village, one of the most picturesque villages in all of France..

Château de Peyrepertuse

Les Gorges de Galamus
|
The Corbières is one of the wildest areas of France with one of the lowest population densities. It is picturesque with wine growing areas alternating with garigue and mountainous countryside. It is located mainly in the Aude département and partly in the Pyrénées-Orientales département. The River Aude borders the Corbières to the west and north. To the south is the River Agly and to the east the the Mediterranean Sea. The name Corbières comes from "cor" a pre-Celtic word meaning "rock" and "berre" from the River Berre which runs through Durban. The eastern part of the Corbières with its Etangs, borders the the Mediterranean Sea and is called the Corbières maritimes. It has its own distinctive climate and characteristic vegetation known as thermomediterranean vegetation...

Château Trillol |

 |
|
|
Owned by the Sichel family since 1990, Château Trillol is perched high up in the foothills of the Pyrenees at an altitude of 400 metres (1,312ft) in the AOC Corbières winegrowing region. The mysterious Cathar castles close by, with their thousand years of history, add to the majesty of this outstanding, unspoiled natural environment.
Down in the valley, the picturesque and magnificently restored village of Cucugnan was made famous by Alphonse Daudet’s well-known story, Le Curé de Cucugnan (The Priest of Cucugnan). A unique place to visit!
The Sichel family has undertaken a long-term project of expansion and replanting and the estate now boasts 40 hectares of Syrah, Grenache and Carignan in two distinct terroirs,Termenès and Quéribus.
The altitude of the vines (1,312ft and 656ft) means that the grapes ripen slowly, giving them time to absorb the peppery aromas of the neighbouring garrigue scrubland, and to develop length and complexity around a magnificently balanced structure...

The Cathar castle Queribus in the south of France (located in the heart of the Corbieres) still stands today as an impressive memorial to the Albigensian crusade of the thirteenth-century. It was only in 1255 that this mountain top fortress fell to French Catholic knights. Queribus held out an additional eleven years beyond the more widely known Cathar castle at Montsegur, which gave Queribus the distinction of being the last of the Cathar castles. As a result, in many ways the capture of Queribus represents the end of the organized Cathar movement and is sometimes referred to as "the last bastion." Geographically, the castle is high and isolated. The exhausting hike up the mountain, a few hundred steep meters, that is necessary to reach the castle is rewarded by the stunniing military architecture of Queribus. The gothic style hall and its polygonal keep are especially worth seeing...
