The Grands Buffets, is first and foremost… very large buffets (the biggest in France) where you can enjoy as much as you like of everything you like:
Foie gras, charcuterie, seafood, smoked salmon, suckling pig, poultry, cheeses, pastries, etc..
Les Grands Buffets Restaurant is a tribute to classical fine dining : proper table cloths, embroidered napkins, an impeccably laid table, stem wine glasses, fish knives and forks, etc... The refined style of the décor is carried through in the fine woods used (mahogany etc.), carefully planted alcoves and the filtered lighting while the hyper-realistic pastels created by Alain Bellanger add a lively note to this warm and elegant atmosphere.
Right in the middle is a magnificent spit roasting a gargantuan spread of meats, while king prawns, squid and even foie gras sizzle on the plancha!
Over 370 products, including 100 pastries, all for a single price of €
42.90.

All the wines, the best from the Languedoc-Roussillon region, are served at producer prices!...
Children up to the age of 5 have a free menu and 6-10 year-olds a half-price menu!
Children can go and run around in the African village or watch cartoons.
In addition to superbly decorated dining rooms, there are terraces of greenery where you can eat in the shade!
Everyone flits here and there jumping enthusiastically from yet one more delicious dish to another even more enticing, picking a little foie gras here, a bit of suckling pig there, some whole food crudités on the way until the plate (the first one...) is piled high.
The seafood platter of les Grands Buffets is notable in that is absolutely massive… and you can keep going back for more. No need to choose between oysters, mussels, clams, crab, prawns and winkles... try them all. There is plenty of salmon on hand as well, in every shape and form : smoked, bellevue, in aspic, marinated in dill, gravadlax, in salad, in mousse...
As to the revered foie gras, it comes in every shape and form, plain, au sel, au poivre, with Basque pepper, with Rivesaltes muscat or in crème brulée. Unless you prefer it as a pan fried escalope on top of your tournedos of course. If that's the case, try the rotisserie.

Le massif de la Clape

Narbonne

Narbonne-Plage
|
The La Clape AOP is located where the Coteaux du Languedoc and Corbières appellations overlap and is well known for its vineyards that lie on a limestone outcropping that extends across the entire region. The region produces red, rose and white wines that are fully representative of the region and the reds show particularly well, often times considered a vin de garde. The majority of the wines of Gruissan are produced on the Clape. This little mountain, situated between Narbonne and Gruissan was an isle at the time of prehistoric man. The Clape, gets its name from the Occitan word « Clapas » meaning a pile of stones, and reaches a height of 214 m. The pine trees cover the slopes of the Clape. The garrigue covers the plateaux and the thyme, the rosemary and the lavender that invite you to promenade are what give the wines their character...

The Corbières is one of the wildest areas of France with one of the lowest population densities. It is picturesque with wine growing areas alternating with garigue and mountainous countryside. It is located mainly in the Aude département and partly in the Pyrénées-Orientales département. The River Aude borders the Corbières to the west and north. To the south is the River Agly and to the east the the Mediterranean Sea. The name Corbières comes from "cor" a pre-Celtic word meaning "rock" and "berre" from the River Berre which runs through Durban. The eastern part of the Corbières with its Etangs, borders the the Mediterranean Sea and is called the Corbières maritimes. It has its own distinctive climate and characteristic vegetation known as thermomediterranean vegetation...

This peaceful site features 30 shaded and well marked out pitches in a countryside setting, with access to hot water. From 15/06 onwards you can relax by the site pool. Situated 10 kms from beach. The centre of Narbonne is quite small. In fact there are only really a few streets either side of the Canal du Robine that bisects the centre, that are worthy of a visit. Perhaps the best time to catch Narbonne is on a Sunday morning when the whole of the town is taken over with a huge market (see Narbonne Market for more details).
