Le Quai - Trèbes

We looking forward to welcoming you to our restaurant Le Quai in the heart of Trèbes.

We are located in the port of Trèbes on the pleasant boulevard, where all pleasure craft pass by.

On our terrace you can enjoy life on the water, with a delicious menu that we change every week! We strive to satisfy you as much as possible.

"Extensive menu, good kitchen, and very friendly service. What caused some confusion is that the terrace of this shop is in front of the adjacent fish restaurant, and vice versa. Both restaurants looked promising but we opted for this case as the menu also included meat dishes, such as, for example, magret de canard. We did not regret it. Everything was delicious. Both, tasty magret and dorade, everything was delicious!"...

Just east of Carcassonne, is the lively village of Trèbes, with shops, an art gallery that shows international artists, swimming pool, a bridge with a view of the river Aude, and last but definitely not least the Canal du Midi.

Walk along the canal, and you will see a myriad of boats, moored or cruising along the canal...

Trèbes is nice to explore the narrow streets of the old town, just to get a feel for the atmosphere of the place. This is a lived-in town more than a tourist attraction, 'though most of the habitation is in newer ares north of the canal.

The Aude river is not set up for river activities in this area, but there is a swimming pool and a campsite on the right bank, opposite the old town.

A walk out alongside the canal north of town is very pretty. There's a picturesque "canal-aqueduct", where the Canal du Midi crosses over the Orbiel river. An additional ten-minute walk along the canal will bring you to a small, stone, hump-back bridge crossing the canal (Pont de la Rode), where many of the canal-side cyclists like to stop for a photo op.

Corbières

A.O.C. Corbières

The Corbières is one of the wildest areas of France with one of the lowest population densities. It is picturesque with wine growing areas alternating with garigue and mountainous countryside. It is located mainly in the Aude département and partly in the Pyrénées-Orientales département. The River Aude borders the Corbières to the west and north. To the south is the River Agly and to the east the the Mediterranean Sea. The name Corbières comes from "cor" a pre-Celtic word meaning "rock" and "berre" from the River Berre which runs through Durban. The eastern part of the Corbières with its Etangs, borders the the Mediterranean Sea and is called the Corbières maritimes. It has its own distinctive climate and characteristic vegetation known as thermomediterranean vegetation...

Minervois

A.O.C. Minervois

The Minervois is one of the most ancient vineyards of the Mediterranean region. Indeed, its land was chosen by the Romans as providing ideal conditions for the first vines they planted in Languedoc Roussillon. Its name comes from the ancient city of Minerve, a stronghold built by the Romans and dedicated to the goddess Minerva. Since that time, many amphora shards and vestiges of cellars have been discovered, testimony to the importance of this vineyard. The region, austere in winter and redolent with sunshine in summer, has survived over the centuries its invasions by barbarians, Arabs and Christians. The essence of Minervois la Livinière, as in so many Midi appellations, is the blend; a marriage of different grape varieties that adds subtle nuance of flavour to the whole. Natural alcohol level must reach a minimum of 12% without enrichment (so no chaptalisation) and maximum yield is a modest 45 hl/ha. Ageing may be in barrel or vat, and unlike basic Minervois, the wine must be bottled at source, so cannot be sent off to a négociant elsewhere in France...
