La Maison Aïni - Serviès-en-Val

Philippe was born in Bordeaux on June the 22nd, 1952. Married and the father of three children, he broke brutally with his career as a confectioner at the age of 24 to dedicate himself to creating paintings and sculptures. Without artistic training, he invents his art from top to bottom. He spent the next 8 years alone in his studio, he painted doggedly, seeing only a few artists and close friends. Despite his mystery or perhaps partially because of it, his art began to engage discerning art lovers at home and abroad. A notable and stalwart supporter of Aini's is J. Pierre Roche, director of the gallery Emergences in Bordeaux, who fervently loves his works and has exhibited it many times. Philippe's relationship with J. Pierre Roche contributed to his success in the southwest of France, as did the admiration of Guy Lafargue, manager of the Art Cru (Raw Art) gallery in Auch.
La Maison Aïni - Serviès-en-Val
Philippe Aïni, unusual creator, totally self-taught painter, free from any cultural influence, rejects any identification with an artistic current. His artistic career and his notoriety have led him to exhibit in most of the major international cultural scenes. Aïni's painting uses an unusual ingredient, unusual in the art world: mattress floss, which he uses to serve his expression...
Using this substance mixed with glue like a malleable paste, he made a material of amazing plasticity and will make a considerable contribution to his creation, allowing him to go further, ever further, in the transmission of life...

Today, the artist works on precious wood (red cedar, mahogany, iroko, rosewood, cedar of Lebanon) in search of unknown expressions which for him carry the meaning of another humanity.
La Maison Aïni - Serviès-en-Val
As provocative as ever, but, let's face it, with a great imagination, Aïni once again shocks the visitor, trying to make him think about the vains human enterprises. After Luxembourg, Paris Belgium, he is expected in Pragueand in Alabama, in the "Deep South". Maybe will he plant a "peace tree" there, charged with black and white fruits?

It has been several years since this artist invested the former Serviès-en-Val cooperative to turn it into an exhibition and creation space. A somewhat peculiar lamppost in Montlaur; the fresco of the cellar of Serviès-en-Val ... Here the Val-de-Dagne was invested by the sweet madness of Philippe Aïni, a special artist...

Sentier Sainte Marie d’ Orbieu Abbey - Lagrasse

Hiking Officially designated ‘One Of The Most Beautiful Villages In France’, Lagrasse nestles at the confluence of two valleys in the stunning Corbières wine region of the South of France. The village is linked to the 8th century Benedictine abbey to which it owed its original prosperity by two graceful bridges spanning the river. Located in the commune of Lagrasse, the Benedictine monastery of the eighth century visited the monastic life in 2004 when it was bought by the community of the Canons Regular of the Mother of God. The abbey is the subject of a classification as historical monuments since July 23, 1923...

Les Poneys d’Adèle

Les Poneys d’Adèle - Labastide-en-Val

"Les Ponys d 'Adèle" was created in 2018 by Adéline Bougeant, following her desire to offer children an approach to horse riding focused on communication with horses, using methods that include gentleness, understanding and respect for the animal. Passionate about horses since childhood, Adèle first entered the equestrian world through training (acquisition of a Galop 7 level in an equestrian center, followed by obtaining the BAPAAT, ATE and BPJEPS diplomas necessary for its development), followed by professional experience as an animator of shows and children's groups in the Paris region, Equestrian animator in the south of France, Hiking guide in the Camargue and Corsica. In addition to this traditional experience, she also had the opportunity to practice reasoned, logical driving and see that understanding and respecting the animal was much more rewarding than harshness and allowed it to perform faster with very satisfying results...

Restaurant Bourdasso

Restaurant Bourdasso - Pradelles-en-Val

Up in the Corbières hills, which lead to the Pyrenees, the natural border between Spain and France, and no more than a 20-minute drive from the Cité of Carcassonne and equidistant between the villages of Montlaur and Monze and closest to the hamlet of Pradelles-en-Val, there is a most unexpected outpost of Italy. The farm, which is not that easy to see from the road, has long been called Bourdasso. The property it occupies is the former winemaking facilities and house of the previous owners but the Italian influence is now obvious. The men wear predominantly white with their shirts conspicuously outside their trousers; the main dining room is stylishly simple and clean; and most crucially, and unusually for this part of the world, there is not a mention of cassoulet or confit du canard on the menu. The wine list even carries 10 different Italian red wines...

Sentier Le Tour de Rieux en Val

Sentier Le Tour de Rieux en Val - Rieux-en-Val

Rieux and Val lies at the foot of the Val de Dagne and belonged to the abbey of Lagrasse in the twelfth century. At that time the village was surrounded by fortifications with the two main guarded gates. The walls and gates were demolished in 1759. The bridge, Le pont de Rieux en Val, was built in the twelfth century and was intended for pedestrians, hence the steps and the narrow passage. The bridge was also the setting of the film released in 1961: "Le miracle des loups" with Jean Marais. In short Rieux-en-Val is certainly worth a visit, because of the old buildings you find yourself quickly back 1,000 years in time...
