La Goutarende - Cuxac-Cabardès

We have 2 houses for rent (nr. 6a and 6c) at Domaine La Goutarende.

The estate La Goutarende is approximately 1 km outside the town Cuxac-Cabardès in the region of the Aude. This place can be find at 23 km north of the city of Carcassonne.

At La Goutarende is a communal pool and the Mediterranean Sea is 1 hour away. There are several small lakes nearby. At Carcassonne is a very nice beach with many places to play.

Within walking distance of the houses is a large Equestrian Centre, where you can rent horses or take lessons. Riding routes can be started here.

The area is a hilly, wooded area interspersed with open areas, often protected area and vineyards...
Tourism:

The "Domaine la Goutarende" is very old as far as is known on the map published in 1789. Louis XVI was commissioned to cartographers family Cassine a card design. There is a Petit Chateau which consists of 7 apartments and 28 houses. In 1992 the buildings commissioned by a Dutch project were rebuilt and restored in the situation as it is now. There are also 3 new houses built and there is a plot available. There are currently French-Dutch-English and Irish owners. Some of their live permanently at the Domaine and the rest used their house for rental or for own stay. There is an abundance of lovely walks all around. The unspoilt national park forest is just a few metres from the chateau, and you can drive, cycle or walk down the hill to Cuxac-Cabardes (although cycling back may require a shot of espresso from the village bar beforehand!). If you’re feeling a little more intrepid, why not borrow the map and compass from the apartment and follow one of the several paths through the woods? Less than a mile away from Le Petit Chateau is the charming village of Cuxac-Cabardes. It is sometimes referred to as ‘The Hidden Village’, because you may not see it when driving along the main Carcassonne-Mazamet road. It is only when you enter the village that you discover why so many people love it. You will find all that you need – a small supermarket, a butcher’s, a baker, a pharmacy, and of course the friendly bar with excellent (and very reasonable) restaurant. And now there is a newly opened second restaurant, which is also of great quality.

My name is Nico Dreux, I am a mountain guide and educational animator, curious about nature, passionate about legends, the environment, I like to share her unusual gems while hiking, the time of a human adventure. As a mountain guide, I accompany you on your hikes in the south of the Massif Central in the Montagne Noire, Sidobre, the Monts de Lacaune, Caroux-Espinouse, ... and as an educational leader, share with you my knowledge that I have acquired during my professional training. During my discovery walks I can let you experience environmental educational activities. On the paths of the Aude, Tarn and Hérault, I will tell you my secrets through several legends. See you soon on our adventure trails, Nicolas Dreux...

Randonnée La Prise d'Alzeau et La Rigole de la Montagne Noire - Lacombe

The Prise d' Alzeau and the Mountain Canal in the very heart of the Montagne Noire, «the source of the Canal du Midi» provides an important supply of water. It wasn’t until the 17th century, when Pierre Paul Riquet identified and harnessed the power of the small mountain streams so that collectively they could be used to generate a supply of water to the Canal du Midi. Thus Pierre Paul Riquet completed his greatest work, taking water from its source here in the Montagne Noire for the Canal du Midi in order to finally link the Atlantic and The Mediterranean Sea. The Galaube dam is part of the water management system of the Montagne Noire near Carcassone in Southern France. Reservoirs at the Saint Ferréol, Lampy and Cammazes dams already hold more than 35 million cubic metres of water for use as drinking water, irrigation in the three departments of Aude, Haute-Garonne and Tarn as well as regulating water levels in the Canal du Midi...
