La Cité médiévale de Carcassonne de près et de loin - Carcassonne

From the medieval city that you can visit before or after the walk, it is interesting to go to the top of Pech Mary to, in addition to a 360 ° a panoramic view of the city and its surroundings and especially the Porte Narbonnaise.

Park in the free parking place Place Gaston Jourdanne. (D/A) Walk southeast and follow Rue Trivalle at the end of Pont Vieux for 300 meters. Continue to the right on Rue Gustave Nadaud to reach the square in front of the entrance to the city (Porte Narbonnaise).

(1)
Cross this square towards the drawbridge and turn left on the path below the ramparts and the cemetery. After about 200 meters ...

(2)
Pass the barrier on the left, turn left and then immediately right onto Chemin de Sainte-Croix. Continue straight to reach le calvaire de Sainte-Croix and then the passage under the bypass.

(3)
Pass under the bridge and just afterwards exit Chemin de Sainte-Croix to go up left and turn right onto Chemin de la Porte de Fer. After 700 meters, leave the path to the right towards the Hauts de Sainte-Croix and continue for about 150 meters to reach the entrance of domaine de la Porte de Fer.
  (4) Take the path blocked by a forest barrier to the right and go straight ahead. At the crossroads, turn left (sharp bend) onto Chemin du Reservoir and go straight until the first marked bend on the left.
(5) Find the path that starts on the left and that you take on the way back. Continue on Chemin du Reservoir, ignore Chemin de l'Arboretum on the right and go straight ahead. Keep walking northwest until you reach the Discovery Mountains.
(6) Enjoy the view and turn around. (5) Turn right onto the path that descends. The next 300 meters are full of gully holes and represent the most technical part of the walk, especially after a rainy period.
(7) Pass the forest barrier and follow the asphalted path on the right. Once at the Saint-Charles estate, which we leave on the right, continue on the left on the path of the same name. Continue to the intersection with the access path to the ring road.
(8) Leave this access to the bypass and at the fork immediately following it, follow the left branch to Chemin de Saint-Charles. Walk along the ring road to the right and then turn left twice to get to the passage that you can pass underneath. (3) Go up Chemin de Sainte Croix and at the cemetery turn left and then right. (2) Go through the barrier of the Lices de la Cité car park. Go to the left, after 300 meters turn right to reach the ramparts of the city.
(9) Take the ten-step spiral staircase on the left, then take the alley with large landings to the right and continue on Rue Petite Côte de la Cité. Then turn right into Rue de la Barbacane and go straight ahead. At the end of the street and in view of the Pont Vieux, turn right, pass the end of the said bridge and you will find the starting point Place Gaston Jourdanne (D/A).

Château et Remparts de la Cité de Carcassonne

2500 years of history !! The imposing fortifications of the citadel of Carcassonne occupy a rocky outcrop overlooking the course of the River Aude. At the foot of their walls stretches the lower town, a bastide founded in 1248 by Louis IX. Carcassonne has been a settlement since the 6th century BC and was a Roman town, fortified during the later imperial period, before becoming a medieval citadel. It has examples of 1,000 years of military architecture and 2,600 years of history. A rich and varied tour is available and includes many areas not otherwise visited: ramparts, hoardings, projection room, lapidary museum. Guided tours, lectures or audio-guides available, subject to booking...

Les Chasses au Trésor: Carcassonne

Les Chasses au Trésor: Carcassonne

Les Chasses au Trésor: malediction, mysteries and magic cards... Discover the region in a fun way and visit unusual or unmissable places thanks to a treasure hunt in the form of a box containing a magic card, mirror and / or other surprising clues. At the end of your adventure, a treasure awaits you... Be careful though: the treasure hunt makes you addicted! If you do one there is a good chance you will want to do more! We will have warned you... How it works ? It's very simple! Buy a “treasure hunters” box in one of the points of sale (often the town's tourist office). One box is sufficient for a family of 3/4 people or for a group of friends. Once the box in hand, you are in total autonomy. Inside the box are all the necessary items to complete your adventure. Our course last on average 1h30 but you are free to do it at your own pace. At the end of the adventure, remember to return to the tourist office (pay attention to the schedules) to collect your reward: the one, the real, the only treasure hunter badge to collect...
