La Cave des Vignerons - Siran

La Cave des Vignerons in Siran has experienced a kind of renaissance with the installation of a wine bar in the property formerly dedicated to wine and winemaking. Long ago left to its fate, la Cave came back to life under the guidance of Sabine and Patrick, who wanted to turn it into a meeting place and a cozy place with wine and varied cuisine, inspired by the inspiration of the chef and the seasons...

Wine bar, restaurant and concert hall, this former cooperative winery takes in part of its soul while remaining in the spirit of wine and the vine.
La Cave des Vignerons - Siran
"What a great restaurant. Recommended by my sister and have visited this restaurant several times now - excellent across the board every time.

The atmosphere of the place is about the same for us. It is on a small road just on the outskirts of Siran with little traffic (lunchtime). The waiter who served us, which I assume is co-owner, was extremely friendly and very happy to provide details on both the current menu and extensive wine list - initially in French which was good in forcing us to share but also contributed in English. Unpretentious and very comfortable. Thoroughly recommend"...

Borie de Maurel
Domaine Borie de Maurel - Félines-Minervois
A.O.P. MinervoisOur land, If you come to visit the domain, avoid wearing shiny, stiletto heals and “Sunday shoes”. The wines at Borie de Maurel hang on to the rocky slopes of the Black mountains. This land has always been known as le petit Causse. It’s so special that in 1999 the first appellation village of the Languedoc was born - . AOC La Livinière. The other particularity of the lands of Borie de Maurel is the diversity. To simplify, let’s say that this immense geological dump splits into two families: the hot soils with an under layer of sandstone, with accumulations of clay and limestone sediment with low water retention ; this is the favourite spot for the mourvedre, Grenache, carrignan and cinsault, the wines are generally heady and strong….- the high lands - which can be as high as 300 meters altitude, these long of fingers of scree of marl and limestone, ripped from the mountain by erosion and the ancient glaciers ; the part mixed with marble and slate, benefits from cool air descending from the peaks in the evening, after a stifling hot summers day. This meso-climate, linked to the topography, insures the maturity of the syrah or the marsanne which fills with all that mineral taste, so characteristic of Borie de Maurel. Its the expression of a “terroir” - the taste of the land...

Clos Centeilles
Domaine Clos Centeilles - Siran
A.O.P. Minervois The Wine estate Clos Centeilles is located in the very heart of the area “Minervois la Livinière”, 1st of the Languedoc’s “cru” to be recognized in 1999. Since 1995, Patricia Boyer-Domergue dedicated herself to reimplantation of old forgotten vines. "Much has been happening at the domain, and with summer well underway it’s time to reflect and appreciate the scents of the Mediterranean garrigue and swallowtail butterflies that flutter harmoniously amongst the lavender. The cigales started to sing a week ago, announcing the arrival of some very hot weather. Despite the lack of rain, (which I await with baited breath !) I’m very pleased with how the vines are coping. The branches of some of the Syrah are now 1,5m and it’s a marvel to see them dance majestically in the breeze. It certainly is a relief that we have so far managed to avoid the ferocious hail storms which have savaged other areas the country".

La Curiosité de L'Auriol (Lauriole)

La Curiosité de L'Auriol (Lauriole)

The Curiosité de Lauriole is not a place where you can find something to buy or other interesting things, no it's really an insignificant piece of road with only an optical illusion. When we were there for the first time we looked everywhere for something special but did not find anything. After a little search on google we found an interpretation of this phenomenon. What you have to do to find the cache is just to find out the secret of the Curiosité de Lauriole. You can put your car at one of this coordinates and just set your gear in the free and leave the breaks... because of the optical illusion you will think the car goes that direction but it's not!!!

Apart from the abbey, the attraction of Caunes lies in its rich historical and architectural heritage. The façades of the buildings are adorned with numerous architectural features dating from the 15th and 18th centuries. Remains of the fortified walls which surrounded Caunes can be seen on a walk through the village. Other more recent monuments which reveal a way of life and traditions now dying out are also worthy of mention, such as the old wash houses, the irrigation channel and the cobbled lanes...

Notre Dame du Cros

Notre Dame du Cros - Caunes-Minervois

Situated 2km from Caunes, Notre Dame du Cros is a remarkable site with a chapel dedicated to the worship of the Virgin Mary. Following a miraculous cure by the spring water, three small dry stone chapels were built on a steep slope with three statues, the Virgin Mary, Saint Joseph and Saint John. This is the origin of the pilgrimage of the Cros. A larger chapel had to be built as the number of devotees grew. Pilgrimages and processions were regularly organised to coincide with the feasts of the Assumption and the Nativity and the relics of the Caunes martyrs were associated with processions asking for rain, for the protection of the harvest etc. Religious rituals were also observed during Easter week. A few pilgrimages and celebrations have survived to the present day, specifically on 15 August and 8 September. Inside the church, the chancel is lavishly decorated with paintings framed with marble and gilded wood and the beautiful communion table, pulpit and font are all made of marble...
