Holiday rental in the beautiful village of La Livinière in the Languedoc, Aude region. The village is well known as on of the best Minervois villages. The accommodation is suitable for up to 8 people and is priced according to the table below.

In the surrounding area, historic, scenic and cultural sites abound. There are many nearby areas of historic (and even prehistoric) interest, easily reached by car. There are the famous Cathare fortresses, Chateaux de Lastours and Queribus.

Nearby Carcassonne is the largest walled city in Europe, the fascinating 'La Cité', where, at least in story, the heroic chatelaine defied the siege of Charlemagne. Despite its fairy tale appearance, Carcassonne has all the conveniences of a modern city with shops of every kind, supermarkets, cinemas and an abundance of fine restaurants...

There is something for everyone here and the unique thing is, that it is all within your reach. The sun, the wine, the Occitan hospitality and wonderful cuisine are pleasant extra's.

Come and discover the land where the Knights Templar wanted to settle down and where legend upon legend originated. Climb one of the Cathar Castles for a sublime view, enjoy a sorbet on a sunny terrace in picturesque Minerve or settle in the sand of Narbonne Plage (beach) for a day, where the sand slowly descents into the Mediterranean.

Solve the enigma of the Templars in Rennes-le-Chateau or go for a pleasant walk through the unspoilt natural beauty of the National Park de Haute Languedoc.

It is all possible here, in one holiday!

Minervois

A.O.C. Minervois

The Minervois is one of the most ancient vineyards of the Mediterranean region. Indeed, its land was chosen by the Romans as providing ideal conditions for the first vines they planted in Languedoc Roussillon. Its name comes from the ancient city of Minerve, a stronghold built by the Romans and dedicated to the goddess Minerva. Since that time, many amphora shards and vestiges of cellars have been discovered, testimony to the importance of this vineyard. The region, austere in winter and redolent with sunshine in summer, has survived over the centuries its invasions by barbarians, Arabs and Christians. The essence of Minervois la Livinière, as in so many Midi appellations, is the blend; a marriage of different grape varieties that adds subtle nuance of flavour to the whole. Natural alcohol level must reach a minimum of 12% without enrichment (so no chaptalisation) and maximum yield is a modest 45 hl/ha. Ageing may be in barrel or vat, and unlike basic Minervois, the wine must be bottled at source, so cannot be sent off to a négociant elsewhere in France...

Vin de Pays d’Oc,
Vin de Pays de l’Aude

Vin de Pays d’Oc, Vin de Pays de l’Aude

Vin de Pays means 'country wine' to the French, but to outsiders it can mean New World with a French accent. These are the wines which the French authorities unreservedly allow to be labelled with the grape variety from which they were made. It is difficult to over-estimate the importance of this large and growing category of wines for the future of the French wine trade. The French themselves may have tended to see any Vin de Pays as distinctly inferior to any appellation contrôlée wine, whereas many of their customers abroad see the better Vins de Pays as good-value, user-friendly, sometimes high-quality non-conformist emissaries from the world's most revered wine producer....

La Curiosité de L'Auriol (Lauriole)

The Curiosité de Lauriole is not a place where you can find something to buy or other interesting things, no it's really an insignificant piece of road with only an optical illusion. When we were there for the first time we looked everywhere for something special but did not find anything. After a little search on google we found an interpretation of this phenomenon. What you have to do to find the cache is just to find out the secret of the Curiosité de Lauriole. You can put your car at one of this coordinates and just set your gear in the free and leave the breaks... because of the optical illusion you will think the car goes that direction but it's not!!!

An omelet and salad at noon can be very enjoyable and inexpensive, and full meals are available both at noon and in the evening. Reservations not normally necessary...
