Due to an illness, we had to cancel our "Canyoning" experience with another tour company at the last minute as they were unable to accommodate another date for our family. We rebooked with Eaurizon and we're glad we did...
As a family of four, this adventure was intended for our daredevil 10 year old but we all had the time of our vacation.

Our guide (can't remember his name) was spectacular. He patiently guided us through the intricacies of the wet suits and then the canyon.

He knew every nook and cranny of the canyon floor and was able to let us know where to safely jump off the rocks... how to slide down the waterfalls... and how to roll, swim and float down the river.

Every part of our tour was creative and interesting. Our guide was great with the kids.

Walking the floor of the canyon was incredible way to see this amazing natural sight".

Minervois

A.O.P. Minervois

The Minervois is one of the most ancient vineyards of the Mediterranean region. Indeed, its land was chosen by the Romans as providing ideal conditions for the first vines they planted in Languedoc Roussillon. Its name comes from the ancient city of Minerve, a stronghold built by the Romans and dedicated to the goddess Minerva. Since that time, many amphora shards and vestiges of cellars have been discovered, testimony to the importance of this vineyard. The region, austere in winter and redolent with sunshine in summer, has survived over the centuries its invasions by barbarians, Arabs and Christians. The essence of Minervois la Livinière, as in so many Midi appellations, is the blend; a marriage of different grape varieties that adds subtle nuance of flavour to the whole. Natural alcohol level must reach a minimum of 12% without enrichment (so no chaptalisation) and maximum yield is a modest 45 hl/ha. Ageing may be in barrel or vat, and unlike basic Minervois, the wine must be bottled at source, so cannot be sent off to a négociant elsewhere in France...

Lézignan-Corbières

Lézignan-Corbières

Lézignan-Corbières is a very active town, located along the main road between Narbonne and Carcassonne. The town has plenty of shops and cafés and so makes a good place to stop for a lunchtime visit. The main attraction, though, is the Wednesday market which is very large and packs the town with market stalls, people, odors (of the good sort) and activity. Lézignan-Corbières isn't a particularly attractive town, and we found the narrow streets of the "old town" rather dreary. The main church of Lézignan-Corbières, Eglise Saint-Félix, is an imposing structure. Declared an historical monument, it's located in the center of town and has a small park just beside. Market Wednesday The Wednesday market is a really big affair in Lézignan-Corbières. The market stretches around the south side of the old town, packing the main Cours de la République and most of the adjacent side-streets. There are very many clothes and food stalls, and all are popular. It was fun to observe which vendors had the best reputation by the bigger crowds packed around the more popular vegetable and food stands....
