Lac de Jouarres

Homps is a picturesque French village set on the Canal du Midi and adjacent to the Lac du Jouarres with beaches for swimming and watersports.
|
The Aude River and the Canal du Midi border the entire Minervois wine region. Homps is an attractive canal-side village, with good boating facilities, a range of good restaurants where local wines can be enjoyed and a 12th century Romanesque chapel. La Port Minervois is typically welcoming and enjoys an active local life. A great place to disembark and stretch your legs and a great base from which to explore the Minervois. You are at the foot of the Montagne Noir and Minerve (one of the prettiest villages in France) is an easy 15 minute drive. Lake Jouarres (Lac de Jouarres) is within walking distance, as well as the large village of Olonzac. Another attraction at the harbor is the building called le Chai de Homps. The Minervois is an established wine region, where the best winemakers come together to present their products, warmly welcome visitors to taste, enjoy and ask about the wines of Minervois and Minervois La Livinière. The wines of this sunny region are rich and generous. Le Chai de Homps is a great place to improve wine knowledge. Larent (seller and professional wine taster) can be trusted to ensure that visitors experience the real Minervois wine tasting experience...

« My ‘terroir’ is the heart of the Corbières. We’re in the very centre of the Languedoc. The land is hot, and dry, which can be hard, but also rewarding. In many ways, it resembles the Carignan grape, which is the emblematic grape variety of this region.
When you step out in the morning, in the midst of these southern vineyards, between the mountains and the sea...you can’t help thinking to yourself, that living here is really something quite special. We are the 7th generation of the family to run the family estate, which is nearly 200 years old, established in the area of Montbrun. We have almost 70 acres of land, entirely certified organic.
In the beginning, the estate was polyculture, my ancestors made their living from livestock, cereals, some market gardening, and of course the vines...We are lucky to have a countryside which is thriving. Together, my wife Laurence and I strive to make wines which reflect our values. Wines to share, full of fruit and flavour, full bodied, and honest. We certainly hope that our wines inspire emotion in those who taste them...

Lézignan-Corbières' Creperie Bretonne, established in the
center of this little town of some 10,000 inhabitants since 2008, accomodates
you from Tuesday till Sunday, except Sunday evening, for you to discover the
"galette Bretonne" made in the traditional way by Stephane Gaurichon, a chef
with more than 20 years' experience. "La Creperie" sometimes hosts artists for
live shows, such as Kiko last year. When extraordinary events take place in
Lezignan, such as the annual festival in August, "La Creperie" makes a real fuss
over it...
