Jean-Claude Turetti and his family give you a warm welcome at Domaine de Matibat, in the south of the Malepère appellation, 20 km from Carcassonne. An exceptional terroir that brings together ocean and Mediterranean influences that give the wines freshness and elegance.

Coming from northern Italy, the Turetti family, winemakers from father to son since 1898, settled in the Aude in 1927. In 1973, Henri Turetti acquired the Matibat estate and established one of the first caves in the Malepère. Today it is his son Jean-Claude Turetti, who is in charge of this domain...

Protected by a wooded hill on the south, the Domaine de Matibat, whose name appeared on the land registers from the 17th century, enjoys an exceptional site that has been cultivated since Gallo-Roman times. A terroir with which the grape varieties (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Malbec, Chardonnay, Sauvignon) can use all their aromas...

Red Wine = Red Wine White Wine = White Wine Rosé = Rosé

Precision and generosity are the principles that guide the work of the vineyard and the development of the estate's wines. Each cuvée is matured with the greatest care to obtain a true expression of the Malepère grape varieties and terroirs.

Cuvée Elégance
The Cuvée Fût de Chêne has an intense nose of light vanilla red fruit that is experienced on the palate with delicate peppery notes and a scent of garrigue. Silky and spacious, it goes well with duck breast.

Sauvignon blanc
A Sauvignon with a characteristic nose of boxwood and grapefruit. Freshness is very present in the mouth. It is the ideal addition to a fish dish.

Cabernet franc rosé
The salmon pink color, very bright, announces a distinguished, lively nose with intense fruit scents and is then discreetly floral. Very balanced in the mouth, both full and fresh. This attractive wine is consumed with pleasure at any time of the day.

Malepère

A.O.P. Malepère - Côtes de la Malepère

The Malepère region was awarded AOC status on May 2nd 2007. It is a hilly area south-west of the city of Carcassonne which is included in the appellation along with 31 other towns and villages. Although the area claims a great history of wine making it was in the 1970’s that the vineyards began to be replanted and VDQS status was granted. VDQS is the intermediary wine designation between Vin de Pays and AOC and is a testing ground for would-be AOC’s to prove that wines from all the producers share a common personality before they can be awarded full AOC status. Although an obscure region the Malepère is well worth a visit and offers a very different terrain to the more recognizable Languedoc appellations. There are many interesting medieval circular villages to visit. They were built this way to form ramparts to act as protection for the inhabitants. The Cathar religion was strong here and the area is immersed in history and folklore...

Blanquette de Limoux

Blanquette de Limoux, Crémant de Limoux, Blanquette Méthode Ancestrale

History tells us that Blanquette de Limoux, the world's first sparkling wine, dates as far back as 1531. At the time, the monks of the Benedictine abbey of Saint-Hilaire, near Limoux, were producing a somewhat unusual white wine in their cellars. Inside its glass flask, with a cork top - very rare for wines at this time - it acquired a natural sparkle. This was the forefather of the brut which is tasted today at the world's most prestigious tables. Since they first started cultivating vines, the growers of Limoux have aimed at maintaining the originality of the Blanquette de Limoux growth and developing its quality. The region's surrounding hills protect it from the extremes of the Mediterranean and Atlantic climates, with the area enjoying a microclimate particularly suitable for making quality white wine. The vines classified in the appellation are always planted at the top of southern-facing slopes, giving the best exposure. The soil here is shallow and sparse, full of chalk and stone....

Restaurant Stecy

Restaurant Stecy - Limoux

Restaurant Stecy (formerly La Tantina) was born in 2012 from a desire to satisfy customers in search of a cuisine based on fresh products, made by professionals at a "brasserie". The location in the city center, under the arcades of the main square of Limoux, in the foreground to attend city events (night market, shows, dances), and the large sun terrace corresponded exactly to our desire to create a gourmet brasserie, complementary to our Restaurant Tantine et Tonton...

Paris, Méribel, Porto Vecchio, Berlin, Tokyo are only a few steps on his way. In 2007, after 20 years of bourlingage, he decided to return to the fold. With his wife Benedicte, he created his Tantine et Tonton restaurant, which quickly became a must in Limoux and La Haute Vallée de l’Aude. The family quickly grew: first in 2012, with La Tantina in the central square of Limoux, and in 2014 with The Bistro Tantine, Place Carnot in Carcassonne...
