Domaine de Dernacueillette - Dernacueillette

Located at an altitude of more than 600 m at the foot of the Hautes Corbières, the plots of the Dernacueillette estate extend over the Terroir of Termenes. Guillaume Boussens lives there, in the middle of his vines, which he tends every day and benefits from the gifts of nature. It enriches the soil with natural organic material by reprocessing crushed shoots of vines and sheep manure into the soil. The estate consists mainly of old vines and produces very high quality grapes.
Domaine de Dernacueillette - Dernacueillette
These vines were grafted on site many years ago and are self-regulating. They produce small grapes with a fine skin and an exceptional taste. Guillaume thus works on the purity of the fruit to promote the production of characterful, frank and subtle wines. This vineyard is planted in a natural cauldron, around which the north winds swirl, creating a 95% continental microclimate and not a Mediterranean climate. The surrounding landscape is wild and protected from pollution. It is not rare to see a pair of eagles or black kites soaring above the crests in the morning. Each vintage thus presents an unprecedented alchemy combined with constant quality, the result of careful vinification carried out according to the rules of the art. All the more reason to discover it as soon as possible...
Red Wine = Red Wine

The plots are located on the Terroir of Termenes, in the Hautes Corbières (altitude 360 - 580 m), behind the Mont Tauch (Mont des Ifs). It is the highest intermediate mountain in the Corbières, reaching 916 m. These heights protect the vineyard from most of the sea entrances and give it a continental climate that gives freshness to the wines. It is a dry high mountain (drainage of important soils, filter bottoms). This altitude also gives the vineyard a unique microclimate and ideal conditions that determine the ripening of the grapes.
Domaine de Dernacueillette - Dernacueillette
Guillaume Boussens discovered the vineyard in November 1999 and took over the operation in 2000. The harvests from 2000, 2001 and 2002 were brought to the cooperative's cellar. The first harvest in a private cellar took place on September 28, 2003. The recovery of the exploitation took place over the past thirteen years (planting of 12.2 hectares of vines (Syrah, Grenache), maintenance of the plots, optimization of buildings, recovery of a difficult terroir due to its geographic profile More than 3000 tons of land was returned to the plots after the floods of 1999. The Dernacueillette cellar is a 17th century building, investments were made in the equipment and the small tank space in the cellar. The roof was completely renovated in 2013 to improve the conditions for vinification and wine storage, and in 2016 we renewed the floor above the storage area...

Peyrepertuse is a ruined fortress and one of the Cathar castles of the Languedoc located in the French Pyrénées in the commune of Duilhac-sous-Peyrepertuse, in the Aude département. It was associated with the Counts of Barcelona, later kings of Aragon. The name Peyrepetuse is derived from Pèirapertusa, Occitan, meaning Pierced Rock. The lower part of the castle was built on a strategic location by the kings of Aragon in the 11th Century and the higher part by the French King Louis IX later on, after the area was annexed to France. The two castles are linked together by a staircase. The castle lost importance as a strategic castle when the border between France and Spain was moved in 1659, causing the castle to be abandoned. The castle ruins are impressive, set high on a defensive crag. From the approach road it is difficult to see where the rock stops and the castle starts. The castle was built in the 11th century on a site dominating the Corbières and the sea. The main part, resembles the prow of a ship, running along the top of an 800m (2,600 ft) high crag. It houses the church of Sainte-Marie and the governor's residence...

On the slope of Mont Tauch is the chapel of Notre Dame de Faste. Its presence in this remote spot is explained by the spring that rises here.
