Domaine Cazes - Rivesaltes

La Maison Cazes, the history of the great wines of Roussillon. Since 1895, in the heart of Roussillon near Rivesaltes, between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean, Maison Cazes has grown to 220 hectares where many different wines come from every year.

The 220-hectare estate is ideally located in grounds at the foot of the foothills of the Corbières, in the Agly Valley. The soils, mainly clay-limestone, are scattered with schistous debris and siliceous pebbles, an association remarkably beneficial for the production of great wines. More than 220 hectares completely converted to organic and biodynamic agriculture.
Domaine Cazes - Rivesaltes
Domaine Cazes has always been able to innovate successfully and be part of a constant pioneering process in Roussillon. Knowledgeable and dedicated men and women who are constantly in search of excellence, with a perfect mastery of each of its niche terroirs to get the most out of it. Wines that fully express their favorite terroir and are regularly rewarded: more than 400 medals have been awarded to our products since 1960...

The 220-hectare estate has been run entirely in biodynamics for 20 years. A pioneer in the field and considered a locomotive in the French winegrowing landscape, Domaine Cazes bases its work on total harmony between the grape varieties, the climate, the fauna and flora, the land and the people who work there.

Domaine Cazes did not start with 'organic' cultivation out of ecological vocation or commercial conviction, but simply by appealing to the common sense of the farmers to 'work with nature on a land that we want to see live, express and perpetuate Emmanuel Cazes.
Domaine Cazes - Rivesaltes
A cultivation method founded in 1924 and inspired by the work of the German philosopher Rudolf Steiner, who works to prevent and improve soil and plants in their natural environment. In biodynamic culture, the vine is considered a living organism. Biodynamic practices aim to strengthen the unity, balance and resistance of this organism, thus creating harmonious living conditions between the earth, the air, the plant and its entire ecosystem.

Biodynamics naturally make the vine more resistant. It adapts to its environment and becomes able to cope with the stress of diseases and climatic conditions. The effects of this cultivation method are visible in the soil that becomes loose, dark, rich in life and organic matter and is therefore easier to cultivate to combat drought...

Plage Naturiste de Torreilles - Torreilles

South Beach
The longest and most natural beach in Torreilles part of which is reserved for naturism. Between Port Bacares and Canet-en-Roussillon. Access by D81. The beach is between the village and the mouth of Bourdigou. Just as you come off the roundabout to enter Torielles there is an information board - take a look to orientate yourself. The access road to the beach is the very first right just beyond the roundabout. Follow this as it deteriorates into a dirt track but ends at a fine big car park right at the beach. Nice beach, just as you come off the roundabout to enter Torielles there is an information board stop and take a look to orientate yourself. The access road to the beach is the very first right just beyond the roundabout follow this as it deteriorates into a dirt track but ends at a fine big car park right at the beach. The beach is pretty nice big grainy sand some shelter there if it is windy which is often. The beach isn't huge but it has plenty of space and terminates where a river cuts through to the sea.

Musée de Préhistoire de Tautavel

Musée de Préhistoire de Tautavel

The site of Tautavel Cave (also called Caune de l'Arago) is an ancient karst cave in the Tautavel valley of France with over 35 feet of deposits containing over 40 very old stratified occupations, dated between 450,000 and 100,000 years before the present. Stone tools and faunal remains have been found in abundance. The oldest layers include several bone and bone fragments of several individuals of the so-called Tautavel Man, called Homo erectus tautavelensis. Archaeologist Henry de Lumley of the Institut de Paléontologie Humaine has been excavating the cave since 1964 and continues research today. The Arago cave is one of the largest karstic caves in the southern Corbières region. The cave is located high up, overlooking the Tautavel Valley, and offering occupants an unparalleled view of the surrounding countryside.
