At the heart of the Corbières, the largest area and most eclectic of Languedoc, Lalis is located close to Lagrasse in the northwest quarter of the appellation. Backed Alaric Mountain wedged between Pyrenees and Massif Central ...
The field Lalis is wild, windswept and weathered by the summer heat. The vine, one of the only plants grown bold enough to face these elements, here gives a fresh fruit and a crisp amazing, almost paradoxical.
Vignerons father to son since 1902, the Estrade family has retained and enhance this beautiful area until today. Vincent, Jean-Louis, Jean, Marie-Rose, and now Jacques Philippe led the vineyard turns.
Our vines thrive on mainly four types of soil: The sandy loam soils for rosés, the Marnes for whites, sandstone molasses give fine wines or feminine and the clay-limestone produce our wines heads. |

Precious were travelers and wine barrels to pick up Ribaute. A small Micheline on a narrow path went through the Corbières. Today the small tunnel between Ribaute Lagrasse and reflects a time when only the railway linking our region to the world...
Two winemakers struggling before the lightning good fermentation of this wine ... Auguste back and Adolphe Dalbès carreiros, father and son, certainly contemplate the vintage 1907. Both grandfathers ran Comigne our sister property on the north side of the Alaric mountain.
From one to another, Castle Lalis lives and enriches the next generation. The owner is quite a smuggler indicator and one that will pass ... more than a heritage, a requirement!

The Corbières is one of the wildest areas of France with one of the lowest population densities. It is picturesque with wine growing areas alternating with garigue and mountainous countryside. It is located mainly in the Aude département and partly in the Pyrénées-Orientales département. The River Aude borders the Corbières to the west and north. To the south is the River Agly and to the east the the Mediterranean Sea. The name Corbières comes from "cor" a pre-Celtic word meaning "rock" and "berre" from the River Berre which runs through Durban. The eastern part of the Corbières with its Etangs, borders the the Mediterranean Sea and is called the Corbières maritimes. It has its own distinctive climate and characteristic vegetation known as thermomediterranean vegetation...

Vin de Pays d’Oc,
Vin de Pays de l’Aude |
|
Vin de Pays means 'country wine' to the French, but to outsiders it can mean New World with a French accent. These are the wines which the French authorities unreservedly allow to be labelled with the grape variety from which they were made. It is difficult to over-estimate the importance of this large and growing category of wines for the future of the French wine trade. The French themselves may have tended to see any Vin de Pays as distinctly inferior to any appellation contrôlée wine, whereas many of their customers abroad see the better Vins de Pays as good-value, user-friendly, sometimes high-quality non-conformist emissaries from the world's most revered wine producer....

Officially designated ‘One Of The Most Beautiful Villages In France’, Lagrasse nestles at the confluence of two valleys in the stunning Corbières wine region of the South of France. The village is linked to the 8th century Benedictine abbey to which it owed its original prosperity by two graceful bridges spanning the river. Between Carcassonne and Narbonne, Lagrasse is set in the Orbieu valley, in the Corbieres massif. The Orbieu river separates the abbey, rising over the left bank, from the village which spreads along the right bank and is listed as one of the most beautiful villages of France. The foundation charter of the Benedictine Abbey of Sainte Marie de l'Orbieu dates from the end of the 8th century, even if another building probably existed on the site before the Carolingian period...

Restaurant "Les Calicots", located in the heart of old town Fabrezan, between the medieval tower (12th century) and church (13th century). In a renovated former haberdashery Geraldine and Olivier will welcome you in a setting of full authenticity. A wide selection of regional wines will be offered. "We were lucky enough to travel through this wonderful village, and our visit was highlighted by Les Calicots, and their welcoming owners. They offer different menus which are very imaginative, that bring together the freshest ingredients from the region in traditionnal recipes. The setting & atmosphere is of the medieval architecture. Casual & relaxed, you want to come back for more. We also enjoyed walking through the narrow cobble-stone streets that surroung the restaurant"....
