Officially designated ‘One Of The Most Beautiful Villages In France’, Lagrasse nestles at the confluence of two valleys in the stunning Corbières wine region of the South of France.
The village is linked to the 8th century Benedictine abbey to which it owed its original prosperity by two graceful bridges spanning the river. Located in the commune of Lagrasse, the Benedictine monastery of the eighth century visited the monastic life in 2004 when it was bought by the community of the Canons Regular of the Mother of God.
The abbey is the subject of a classification as historical monuments since July 23, 1923...

Cellier des Demoiselles |

|
 |
|
|
The Cellier des Demoiselles was created in 1914, just before the First World War. The name is a tribute to the women of the village who, in the absence of their men, strove to preserve our wines and our Terroir. Today, the story continues with wines developed in their image: Fruit and Flowers for some, character and intensity for others, revealing all the elegance and distinctiveness of our Terroir.
Saint Laurent de la Cabrerisse is ideally situated between
Carcassonne, a famous medieval City, and Narbonne, that honors its
cathedral and its beaches. Our village, due to it localization,
deserves a double nickname of « Porte des Hautes Corbières » and of
«Cœur du Pays Corbières-Minervois»...

Immerse yourself for a day in the silent universe of the
Cistercian Monks, who had only the cicadas’ song to distract them from
contemplation. Standing in front of its high walls, it’s hard to imagine just
how vast the Abbey is. Once you have passed the gate, the splendour of the ochre
sandstone building will be revealed. It is one of the most beautiful Cistercian
abbeys of France, founded in 1093 and saved from ruin in 1908 by art patrons
Gustave and Madeleine Fayet. While discovering the dormitory and refectory, you
will plunge into history and learn about the particularities of the Cistercian
Order. You will find out, for instance, that the professed monks never met the
conversi, or lay brothers, who were manual workers...

Rivière de St Laurent de la Cabrerisse |

|
Amidst a magnificent landscape of vineyards, pine forests, olive trees and garrigue (Mediterranean scrubland), our village stretches along the river Nielle.
Ideally located between Carcassonne and its famous fortified cité and Narbonne with both a remarkable cathedral and relaxing beaches to offer, our village deserves its double “label” of “Gate of the Hautes Corbieres” as well as “ Heart of the Corbieres-Minervois country”.
You are only a few minutes away from Lagrasse, which abbey and middle-age cobbled streets have earned it a place on the list of France’s most beautiful villages. And there is plenty more to see : the abbeys of Fontfroide and Caunes Minervois are well worth a visit, not to forget the Cathar history of the region with the castles of Termes, Villerouge Termenes, Aquilair, Minerves and many more “vertigo citadels” all within a short drive of the village. The Canal du Midi and the Cité of Carcassonne are both inscribed on the Unesco World Heritage List. They offer beautiful opportunities for a half-day or daytrip in the sun...

Sentier Le Gourg de Talairan |

|
Talairan, fortified village. You can walk through the vineyards at the edge of the cliffs and the dried up river Nielle. You can also admire the clear waters of Gourg Goutonnier...
Leave the village on the D323. You’ll walk past a basin (known as the “lavoir à pétales”, the petal washtub), extremely pleasant during the warm summer months. Take the chemin de la Croisette which will take you to the Notre-Dame-de-l’Ere chapel. Follow for about 600 m, before climbing the Buffanel on a small path to the left through the garrigue on the edge of the superb Gorges of the Nielle stream, twisting and turning 100 m below.
Walk up along the gorges on a small ridge path, and continue alongside a fenced vineyard...

Gorges de Ribaute, a gorgeous swimming spot of limpid blue-green water teaming with fish and dragonflies, below reefs of rock pummelled by centuries of water.
For those not tempted to bathe, watching the wildlife is equally enjoyable.
The river Orbieu tumbles from the geological chaos of the central Corbieres, gradually warming up as it runs over sun-baked rocks, until it winds through the vine-covered hills of Lagrasse and Ribaute...
