Our campsite is ideally located for a family holiday based on discovering amazing places and relaxing in a wonderful landscape.

At the heart of the Aude, escape to nature through the Gorges Galamus, fantastic Pech of Bugarach, renowned vineyards and surprising red earth!

Have many cold springs, hot springs of Rennes-les-Bains, salt spring as well as lakes, rivers and rapids. The country Couiza amaze you...
Rennes les Bains is a village situated south of Carcassonne in the Aude Department. The town originally developed here in Roman times with the discovery of the local thermal waters, and several roman artefacts have been found here including a statue of Mercury.

Rennes les Bains actually has both hot and cold springs, and two wells that were dug in the 19th century. Because of the unusual geological characteristics of the rock the water in the river Sals is naturally salty (hence the name of the river), which is of course very unusual for a river.

The village itself lies along the valley bottom with the tall houses of the town hugging the waters edge, some of them having balconies situated over the river. The river is crossed by both a stone bridge and a more recent pedestrian iron bridge. You can also see the small, very old, church of Saint-Nazaire and Saint-Celse in Rennes-les-Bains, and a small part of the original Roman baths, although these are both quite minor historic monuments.

As well as admiring the views along the river, the village is now best known for its spa complex which has an outdoor pool that is naturally heated to 33°C. The spa waters here are reputed for their properties in helping with rheumatism and various skin problems. Rennes-les-Bains has also received a little recent notoriety as a result of Kate Mosse’s book ‘Sepulchre’ which was set in Rennes les Bains...

Corbières

A.O.C. Corbières

The Corbières is one of the wildest areas of France with one of the lowest population densities. It is picturesque with wine growing areas alternating with garigue and mountainous countryside. It is located mainly in the Aude département and partly in the Pyrénées-Orientales département. The River Aude borders the Corbières to the west and north. To the south is the River Agly and to the east the the Mediterranean Sea. The name Corbières comes from "cor" a pre-Celtic word meaning "rock" and "berre" from the River Berre which runs through Durban. The eastern part of the Corbières with its Etangs, borders the the Mediterranean Sea and is called the Corbières maritimes. It has its own distinctive climate and characteristic vegetation known as thermomediterranean vegetation...

Vin de Pays d’Oc,
Vin de Pays de l’Aude

Vin de Pays d’Oc, Vin de Pays de l’Aude

Vin de Pays means 'country wine' to the French, but to outsiders it can mean New World with a French accent. These are the wines which the French authorities unreservedly allow to be labelled with the grape variety from which they were made. It is difficult to over-estimate the importance of this large and growing category of wines for the future of the French wine trade. The French themselves may have tended to see any Vin de Pays as distinctly inferior to any appellation contrôlée wine, whereas many of their customers abroad see the better Vins de Pays as good-value, user-friendly, sometimes high-quality non-conformist emissaries from the world's most revered wine producer....

Château d’Arques

Château d’Arques - Arques

In the heart of the village stands the birthplace of Déodat Roché (1877-1978), the historian of Catharism. To commemorate the village's illustrious son, the house today contains a permanent exhibition devoted to Catharism. It offers visitors 4 approaches to this religion that go beyond the purely religious: first, a historical approach; second, a spiritual approach; third a political approach; finally an approach devoted to everyday life among the Cathars. On the first floor a sound recording enables visitors to find out about Déodat Roché's life...

Restaurant
Le Carnotzet

Restaurant Le Carnotzet - Couiza

This restaurant is nestled at the foot of Rennes le Chateau and bathes the mystery of Abbé Saunière. They offer all their passions with gourmet foods, a mixture of authentic cuisine and local gourmet cuisine. Actually like the Chef! ! Alain Ibert-Jorge . Rich in the kitchen of these origins, it also acquired its gourmet cuisine during his many years in Paris. It is not uncommon in Veronique and Franck , the seafood gratin lobster sauce Béarnaise Garbure borders on the space of a weekend on their slates suggestions. But do not forget what has served as an alibi the decoration of this place "a Savoyard chalet" the inevitable "specialties Savoyarde" squeegees , tartiflettes , melted and reblochonnade....

Château des Ducs
de Joyeuses

Château des Ducs de Joyeuses - Couiza

This listed 16th century chateau is located on extensive grounds on the banks of the River Aude. The ancient fortress-turned-hotel subtly blends medieval tradition with modern confort - and it has an excellent restaurant too (it is important that you reserve a table in advance). The house was built by Jean de Joyeuse, first Governor of Narbonne and Lieutenant General in Languedoc, between 1540 and 1550, and his son, Guillaume III assumed the job of completing this magnificant chateau after he died. With a beautiful courtyard where one can dine in the summer months, the castle is a very special place to stay. With a swimming pool and tennis court, the hotel is a perfect base to combine relaxation with good food. Close to Cathares and 30 km to Carcassonne, there many cathedrals and historic monuments to visit. The Chateau does not have an elevator, so if you have a problem with stairs this may not be the best choice for you....
