What is a mountain guide (AEM)? In the mountain world they are called "smugglers". Intermediates between the curious city dweller and the wild mountains. He acts as a bridge between two worlds, a role that consists of explaining the mountain environment to his customers. For an AEM, the journey to a summit is just as important as the climb. An AEM is mainly a state certificate (1st degree mountaineering), validated in 3 years, the only one that gives access to paid mountain surveillance. A long and rigorous training in the field, in particular supervised by the Peloton de Gendarmerie de Haute Montagne and other specialists in orientation, geology, fauna, flora, etc ... have trained the candidate to be very versatile.
Thanks to its in-depth knowledge of the terrain, the AEM will relieve you not only of choosing the best route based on multiple parameters (weather, altitude, curiosities), but also of finding the right path at the right intersection without having to having to fight with maps and GPS. Many have already seen marmots, few can explain their social and biological organization, it is the same with medieval mountain castles, as well as with the beautiful orchid that we meet in the meadow. In short, leaving with an AEM is the guarantee to share emotions, passions and knowledge.

Every Wednesday morning
It all starts with a vast spruce forest, in search of big hardwoods and giant spruces. We will discuss the basics of orientation on the trail and then off the trail, looking for a deep limestone sinkhole, a pool where wildlife can be found, looking for signs of life. The (easy) ascent of the
Pic du Bac (1109m) offers a wide panorama of the Pyrenees of the Aude and the Ariège during the picnic. A proven route with a large audience of young and old.
Every Monday morning
Come and hike for half a day in this enchanted forest. A getaway accessible to all where we will see different natural environments and the species that live there. A real relief through a magical forest populated by fairies and elves! A team game in a natural and wild labyrinth completes this walk. Be careful not to get lost!
Family walks
They are shorter or have less height difference and are preferably open to families. From half a day in the forest to mountain lakes, the accessibility criterion is paramount, as is the duration of the effort. For more information (children's ages), see our technical brochures.
Sports walks
Treat yourself to a summit, a series of high-altitude lakes, a long walk or just access to more air passages, bivouac far from the starting point, are some of the hallmarks of these "sports". They are very varied in their profiles and imply walking shoes and good physical condition...

Through the department of Aude and through, enables the Cathar Trail hike (or bike) combining the beauty of the landscape, visiting several Cathar castles and athletic relaxation. History and Geography are two inseparable matters when it comes to the Cathar Trail.
Put your foot on the Cathar Trail, and you'll be transported 8 centuries ago, in a rich History environment, without the use of a time machine, just by using your feet!
The success of the book and movie of the Da Vinci Code has fed a new awakening of interest in the Languedoc and its fabulous Cathar castles. These 'Castles in the Sky', perched on their vertiginous rock pinnacles, are some of the last remnants of the ill-fated Cathar 'heretics' and the legends that linked them to the Holy Grail...

The castle of Puilaurens (also written Puylaurens) is mentioned for the first time early in the XIIIth century. It was a shelter for cathar people from 1241 to 1246. The date of its surrender to the royal troops is not known precisely, probably around 1250. As several other castles around, it was integrated by the King Saint Louis in the defensive plan of the border with the Aragon Kingdom. After the treaty of the Pyrenees in 1659, that has fixed definitively the border, the castle was downgraded and have been occupied by only a little garrison. This castle is located at an altitude of almost 700 metres and overlooks the village of Lapradelle, in the midst of a pine forest. Access is via a pathway with chicanes preceded by a barbican...
