From this old hangar converted into a restaurant, we wanted to preserve the authentic character by creating spaces with a sober and designer style where materials such as wood and metal are combined in the most beautiful way. As you pass the brewery door, it feels like a true industrial workshop, with waxed concrete floors, metal cabinets, a nice bar, worn brick walls and a selection of pendant lamps, chairs and stools, all made of metal.
This original and unique layout is available on two levels: The ground floor has a large covered and heated terrace and the first floor, perfect for your parties and events, has a mezzanine designed for children or for rest.

Narbonne

Abbaye de fontfroide

Musée des Potiers Gallo-Romains d'Amphoralis
|
Lézignan-Corbières is a very active town, located along the main road between Narbonne and Carcassonne. The town has plenty of shops and cafés and so makes a good place to stop for a lunchtime visit.
The main attraction, though, is the Wednesday market which is very large and packs the town with market stalls, people, odors (of the good sort) and activity.
Lézignan-Corbières isn't a particularly attractive town, and we found the narrow streets of the "old town" rather dreary.
The main church of Lézignan-Corbières, Eglise Saint-Félix, is an imposing structure. Declared an historical monument, it's located in the center of town and has a small park just beside.
Market Wednesday
The Wednesday market is a really big affair in Lézignan-Corbières. The market stretches around the south side of the old town, packing the main Cours de la République and most of the adjacent side-streets. There are very many clothes and food stalls, and all are popular. It was fun to observe which vendors had the best reputation by the bigger crowds packed around the more popular vegetable and food stands... |

Oppidum d'Ensérune -
Nissan-lez-Enserune |
|
The Oppidum d'Enserune is an ancient hill-town (or Oppidum) near the village of Nissan-lez-Enserune, France located between Béziers and Narbonne close to the RN9 and Canal du Midi.
Location:
The settlement was occupied without interruption between the 6th Century BC and 1st Century AD, it's location being chosen presumably because it was a hill with good views over the coastal plain, being close to the Roman road Via Domitia, the Montady lake, and fertile agricultural land below.
Below the Oppidum was the swamp of Montady, (centred on), which is now wedge shaped fields separated by irrigation ditches that converge in the centre. In the 13th century, the swamp was drained; the ditches allowed water to flow to the center of the circular depression, from which it was conveyed through underground pipes several kilometers to the south. The drainage is still functional and remains in use. There is a museum on the site which offers a display of some of the finds on the site, as well as giving more information about the fort and the field system... |

The Horreum is the only building dating from classical
times that can still be seen in Narbonne. It is a former underground warehouse
and dates from the end of the first century BC and was probably the below-ground
section of a market. Two of its galleries can be visited and the sound and light
show that has been installed creates an atmosphere rather like that of a
market-day. Stone remains have been put on display in the alcoves that open off
the north wing to remind visitors of the splendours of Narbo Martius, the
capital of the Narbonne region. You can buy a Pass Ticket, which is valid for 15
days and gives you entry to all the monuments and museums...

The collections of the Lapidary Museum are housed in the former church of Notre Dame de Lamourguier, the remains of a 13th-century Benedictine monastery and a fine example of Southern Gothic art. Some 1,300 blocks of stone form one of the largest collections in Europe. Most of them originate from Roman grave monuments which had been re-used as decoration for the town's ramparts (dismantled in the 19th century). A half-hour sound and light show projected onto the walls of the church retraces the history of Narbonne from antiquity to the Renaissance...

Cathédrale Saint-Just et Saint-Pasteur |
 |
|
The High Gothic style of the Cathedral of Saint-Just and
Saint-Pasteur takes its inspiration from the great cathedrals of Northern
France. Its most striking feature is its unique choir, with vaulting soaring to
more than 40 metres. It was built between 1272 and 1340 and remained unfinished
because, in those troubled times, the Consuls refused to demolish the ramparts
to provide stone to continue building. The side chapel, dedicated to Our Lady of
Bethlehem, has a 14th-century altar-piece in painted stone. The Treasury, also
known as the acoustic hall, displays a rich collection of liturgical objects,
including ivories, gold and tapestries...

|
18-Holes.
18 Holes, Par 54, 1.200 metres, 1312 yards. Built in 1988 by Jean Pierre Basurco
International standard. Narbonne is another of the Languedoc's best loved
cities, and is set on the Mediterranean Coast, offering a chance to explore and
enjoy a different aspect of the Aude. The club here is called Le Pitch 'n' Putt
Sainte Rose, and although there is not a full golf course there is a very good
eighteen-hole pitch and putt course, a driving range, pro shop and a clubhouse.
It is really of more interest to holidaymakers and beginners than to serious
golfers, but professional lessons are available, and competitions are held
regularly...
