L'Abreuvoir (Watering place for animals) is the name we have given to this delightful holiday house with three bedrooms for up to 6 people, located in Bouilhonnac, the department of Aude in South of France. Here you will find peace and privacy! This area of France is still largely unspoiled and has not yet been discovered by mass tourism. The Languedoc region is, however, one of the jewels of France. Its beautiful nature with the Pyrenees in the south, the beaches in the east, the Montagne Noire and the Tarn in the north and the valleys of the Minervois and Aude in the centre and west of the province is merely a background for numerous historic sites and days out.
Pays Carcassonnais  La Région Languedoc-Roussillon
This area is perfect for day trips to the Cathar Castles and picturesque villages. For trips to the coast, a wildlife park, the medieval citadel of Carcassonne, or one of the famous caves. For strolls along gentle becks, waterfalls or the calm Canal du Midi with its locks. For a day of leisure at one of the mountain lakes or for mountainbiking or horseback trips...
Tourism:

There is something for everyone here and the unique thing is, that it is all within your reach. The sun, the wine, the Occitan hospitality and wonderful cuisine are pleasant extra's.

Come and discover the land where the Knights Templar wanted to settle down and where legend upon legend originated. Climb one of the Cathar Castles for a sublime view, enjoy a sorbet on a sunny terrace in picturesque Minerve or settle in the sand of Narbonne Plage (beach) for a day, where the sand slowly descents into the Mediterranean.

Solve the enigma of the Templars in Rennes-le-Chateau or go for a pleasant walk through the unspoilt natural beauty of the National Park de Haute Languedoc.

It is all possible here, in one holiday!

Minervois

A.O.P. Minervois

The Minervois is one of the most ancient vineyards of the Mediterranean region. Indeed, its land was chosen by the Romans as providing ideal conditions for the first vines they planted in Languedoc Roussillon. Its name comes from the ancient city of Minerve, a stronghold built by the Romans and dedicated to the goddess Minerva. Since that time, many amphora shards and vestiges of cellars have been discovered, testimony to the importance of this vineyard. The region, austere in winter and redolent with sunshine in summer, has survived over the centuries its invasions by barbarians, Arabs and Christians. The essence of Minervois la Livinière, as in so many Midi appellations, is the blend; a marriage of different grape varieties that adds subtle nuance of flavour to the whole. Natural alcohol level must reach a minimum of 12% without enrichment (so no chaptalisation) and maximum yield is a modest 45 hl/ha. Ageing may be in barrel or vat, and unlike basic Minervois, the wine must be bottled at source, so cannot be sent off to a négociant elsewhere in France...

Corbières

A.O.P. Corbières

The Corbières is one of the wildest areas of France with one of the lowest population densities. It is picturesque with wine growing areas alternating with garigue and mountainous countryside. It is located mainly in the Aude département and partly in the Pyrénées-Orientales département. The River Aude borders the Corbières to the west and north. To the south is the River Agly and to the east the the Mediterranean Sea. The name Corbières comes from "cor" a pre-Celtic word meaning "rock" and "berre" from the River Berre which runs through Durban. The eastern part of the Corbières with its Etangs, borders the the Mediterranean Sea and is called the Corbières maritimes. It has its own distinctive climate and characteristic vegetation known as thermomediterranean vegetation...

Just east of Carcassonne, is the lively village of Trebes, with shops, an art gallery that shows international artists, swimming pool, a bridge with a view of the river Aude, and last but definitely not least the Canal du Midi. Walk along the canal, and you will see a myriad of boats, moored or cruising along the canal. The chef does a wonderful job of using fresh, local ingredients to show off the cuisine of this area of France....

EL CAMPO

El Campo - Trèbes

Serge and Martine Berard had already forged a reputation when they created the restaurant "Pepone" in Carcassonne. After some sabbatical years they reopened the "El Campo". Double side kitchen menu offers a wide selection pizzas, homemade fresh pasta, carpaccio or platos combinados (which constitutes a full meal), tapas (hot or cold) and other dishes just as tasty as each other. Conclusion: you must return to discover everything. Add to that a lovely host and theme nights off and we can only rejoice...

Le Quai

Le Quai - Trèbes

We looking forward to welcoming you to our restaurant Le Quai in the heart of Trèbes. We are located in the port of Trèbes on the pleasant boulevard, where all pleasure craft pass by. On our terrace you can enjoy life on the water, with a delicious menu that we change every week! We strive to satisfy you as much as possible. "Extensive menu, good kitchen, and very friendly service. What caused some confusion is that the terrace of this shop is in front of the adjacent fish restaurant, and vice versa. Both restaurants looked promising but we opted for this case as the menu also included meat dishes, such as, for example, magret de canard. We did not regret it. Everything was delicious. Both, tasty magret and dorade, everything was delicious!"...

Brasserie
A Quatre Temps

Brasserie A Quatre Temps - Carcassonne

Chef Franck Putelat, restaurant owner of Le Parc, opened in 2016, this lovely brasserie next to the Jacobins Port, in La Bastide de Carcassonne. The location is very nice and has a shaded terrace. The interior of the restaurant is decorated in a sober and elegant way, and the welcome is warm. The secondant of Franck Putelat, Chef Tony Béteille, offers traditional cuisine prepared with fresh ingredients, you can choose between fish from the sea or river, shellfish, or meat such as lamb chops with curry and basmati rice, veal kidneys with carrots and fennel, or homemade cassoulet, all of excellent quality. The wine list offers the opportunity to discover the soils of the Pays d'Oc, Corbières, Minervois, Côtes du Roussillon ... to accompany your dishes to the delight of the true wine lovers. To end the meal, we recommend the melted dark chocolate with vanilla ice cream, this all is based for the taste buds to emerge the bittersweet taste... A real treat!!...

L'Ostal des Troubadours

L'Ostal des Troubadours - Carcassonne

Ostal des Troubadours is one of the oldest, most renowned restaurants in the medieval castle of Carcassonne (la Cité - 'the city' pron: 'la seetay'). The building itself dates from the 13th century, the ground floor from the 14th century, with an upper floor added in the 15th century incorporating a timbered facade with mullioned windows. There is also a protected fifteenth century staircase and Roman cellar. Throughout the building are wooden beams and pillars with the first floor displaying a wonderful, panelled ceiling. The views from out the back of Ostal are fantastic: from the windows can be seen the walls and towers of the 'Counts Château' (le Château Comtal) and a medieval garden in the now grassy moat which runs between Ostal and the Château. From Ostal's 'sun terrace' can be seen the soaring towers of the Basilique, the famous 'Hotel de la Cité' and the bridge which crosses into the Château ( which J.F. Kennedy scaled as a young man in 1937). An inspiring view which is ideal for taking photographs while tasting a local wine...
