We acquired the Hotel Restaurant Cuxac-Cabardès in February 2017. After two months of renovation, we were able to open our doors in April 2017. Come and have a good time at La Table d'Orélise.

Our high terrace overlooks the village and reveals a beautiful view of the river. Perfectly exposed to the sun but protected from the radiation by a pergola, discover this pleasant place in the Montagne Noire.
The preparation and realization of our dishes by chef Aurélien Jeanne are home-made with fresh and local products. We invite you to discover our menu that changes with the seasons. We also offer a lunch menu with an aperitif, a main course and a dessert of the day. The licensed (cat. 4) Café-Bar offers delicious hot drinks, from the sweetest to the full-bodied.   Built in 1984, the dam consists of a dam 27 meters high and 117 meters wide, with a capacity of 9 million m3 serves many towns with drinking water. This 90-hectare lake is an ideal place to practice windsurfing and fishing. La ride, easy and very well explained, the overhangs on gratings. A 6 km loop (yellow markings) offers a complete tour of the lake. Easy and uneven, it can lie down by a variant which takes you into the undergrowth of the forest of the Loubatière. Laprade Lower Lake fed by the river "La Dure" was inaugurated in 1985 by the president François Mitterand. It stores about 9 million cubic meters of water. It is used for viewing supply of drinking water, irrigation of agricultural plains between Castelnaudary and Carcassonne and generate electricity through micro-power downstream of the dam. It also helps regulate the flow of rivers that depend on it, especially in the summer period. In summer the shady banks of Lake Laprade are frequented by many anglers taquiing the stud, the perch and sometimes brown trout, thr first inhabitants of the place....

Le Coumbo Falgouzo

Le Coumbo Falgouzo - La Tourette-Cabardès

The Montagne Noire situated between sea and mountains, is a region full of character, where the Atlantic and Mediterranean influences meets each other. Accessible from Carcassonne, take the D201 and from Conques sur Orbiel the D101 via Lastours. Continue through Mas-Cabardès to l'église de Saint-Pierre de Vals (Parking 2) or La Tourette-Cabardès (Parking 1 very limited) on the outskirts of the village on a corner near the laundry. The best discoveries are those that are done on foot.... mule paths carved side valleys, crossing streams, crossing the moors of purple heather or simply treading the carpet sheets autumn in the forest châtaigniers. Le path is the thread, the one who guides and reassures. It's along the way that we find traces of men and women who have to live this country: historical and religious ubiquitous, more intimate, the huts, bridges, cross and streams, sometimes enigmatic stones that dug wells...

Musée du Catharisme -
Maison des Mémoires de Mazamet

Musée du Catharisme - Maison des Mémoires de Mazamet - Mazemet

Why an exhibition of Occitan Catharism in Mazamet? Catharism, dissident religion of the Christian faith, considered to be a heresy by the all-powerful Catholic Church, was condemned, and its adepts were persecuted. The Cathars were obliged to flee into remote areas and found refuge in the Montagne Noire : at the edge of the Aude Cathar Country. The Tarn side of this mountainous massif constituted a place of refuge and resistance for this religion. Hautpoul, the historic birthplace of Mazamet, ancient castrum (fortified village) perched on a rocky outcrop, served as a retreat during the period of the Inquisition. It was also one of the places of residence of the Cathar Archbishop of the diocese of Albi in the 13th century. This Medieval village is one of the rare vestiges of the Cathar time to be situated on the Tarn side of the Montagne Noire...
