Corbières

A.O.C. Corbières

The Corbières is one of the wildest areas of France with one of the lowest population densities. It is picturesque with wine growing areas alternating with garigue and mountainous countryside. It is located mainly in the Aude département and partly in the Pyrénées-Orientales département. The River Aude borders the Corbières to the west and north. To the south is the River Agly and to the east the the Mediterranean Sea. The name Corbières comes from "cor" a pre-Celtic word meaning "rock" and "berre" from the River Berre which runs through Durban. The eastern part of the Corbières with its Etangs, borders the the Mediterranean Sea and is called the Corbières maritimes. It has its own distinctive climate and characteristic vegetation known as thermomediterranean vegetation...

La Clape

A.O.C. La Clape

The La Clape AOC is located where the Coteaux du Languedoc and Corbières appellations overlap and is well known for its vineyards that lie on a limestone outcropping that extends across the entire region. The region produces red, rose and white wines that are fully representative of the region and the reds show particularly well, often times considered a vin de garde. The majority of the wines of Gruissan are produced on the Clape. This little mountain, situated between Narbonne and Gruissan was an isle at the time of prehistoric man. The Clape, gets its name from the Occitan word « Clapas » meaning a pile of stones, and reaches a height of 214 m. The pine trees cover the slopes of the Clape. The garrigue covers the plateaux and the thyme, the rosemary and the lavender that invite you to promenade are what give the wines their character...

Campsite La Pinède - Lézignan-Corbières

Situated in Languedoc-Rousillon, only 500 meters from the centre of Lézignan Corbières, Aude, this 3½ hectares family camping site, at the edge of a fragrant pine forest, invites you to enjoy a well deserved rest in the shade of pine and almond trees. Here you will discover the terroir or wine producing vineyards of the Corbières and the Minervois appellation. You can relax on the terrace of the camp snack bar and enjoy a traditional dish cooked to a traditional Pays Cathare recipe. The campsite is ideally located, halfway between Carcassonne and Narbonne Plage, in the Department of Aude. Tranquil and unspoiled, under the dependable sun of southern France, we offer mobile-homes to rent and have dedicated bays to receive caravans, camping-vans and tents. Within a short drive of the campsite, you can visit the historic sites of the Cathare region with its castles and abbeys. The Canal du Midi traverses the area on its final leg to the nearby Mediterranean Sea....

Le Musée du Château de Ventenac

Le Musée du Château de Ventenac - Ventenac-en-Minervois

A place, a history, a passion ... Cross the aisle vault, lined tanks of old Verrees, enter the heart of our cave and visit the museum. Follow the marked route and discover the old tools, cooperage, carriages and wagons old. The Castle of Ventenac was erected in the eighteenth century on the foundations of an ancient castle. The name of Ventenac is its etymology in Roman times: Villa Ventenachus. Castrum Venthenacum was taken in the twelfth century by Simon de Montfort at the time of the Cathars. This is the nineteenth century that Ms. Seguy Saint Siran built the castle in its present form, giving it its prestigious appearance reminiscent of a religious building. At his death, the vineyard, the cellar and the castle became the property of Pauline Meyer. It is in 1938 that deal with the threat of war, the Meyer family left France....

Rivière de St Laurent de la Cabrerisse

Rivière de St Laurent de la Cabrerisse

Amidst a magnificent landscape of vineyards, pine forests, olive trees and garrigue (Mediterranean scrubland), our village stretches along the river Nielle. Ideally located between Carcassonne and its famous fortified cité and Narbonne with both a remarkable cathedral and relaxing beaches to offer, our village deserves its double “label” of “Gate of the Hautes Corbieres” as well as “ Heart of the Corbieres-Minervois country”. You are only a few minutes away from Lagrasse, which abbey and middle-age cobbled streets have earned it a place on the list of France’s most beautiful villages. And there is plenty more to see : the abbeys of Fontfroide and Caunes Minervois are well worth a visit, not to forget the Cathar history of the region with the castles of Termes, Villerouge Termenes, Aquilair, Minerves and many more “vertigo citadels” all within a short drive of the village. The Canal du Midi and the Cité of Carcassonne are both inscribed on the Unesco World Heritage List. They offer beautiful opportunities for a half-day or daytrip in the sun....
