Golf Saint-Thomas - Béziers

With its 18 hole (par 72 - 6704y / 6130m - designed by Patrice Lammbert) set in typically Mediterranean scenery in the still wild garrigue, The Saint-Thomas golf course has its own particular personality to interest all levels of player, from the beginner to the very experienced.
Golf Saint-Thomas - Béziers
The St Thomas golf course is in a special Setting at the heart of typically Mediterranean garrigue surroundings. On this exceptional site green spaces and wild natural areas co-exist in harmony over a wide area. A green heaven where every one from the expert golfer to the novice can fulfill their wishes and improve their skills...
  Specialities

Designed by Patrice Lammbert, the 18 holes vary a great deal and the golfer is faced with real difficulties. The main impression that one is left with is of a place of peace and quiet due to the beautiful setting surrounded by all the different colours of nature. There are many animals around the course, such as ducks, partridges, hares and rabbits, confirming the impression of a place of natural interest. From a technical point of view, while all your golf clubs are necessary to play the course, a successful round also requires intelligence and a solid game. The clubhouse is well equipped and as with the course, leaves the visitor with a pleasant feeling of well-being.

DIFFICULT HOLES

The course was constructed in a natural setting in the centre of the garrigue. The first five holes are in a wood and require maximum care.

The ball must be placed and not driven. You will need to conserve your strength for the 15th, 16th, and 17th holes as their are water obstacles to clear which are waiting to swallow your golf ball!

The golden rule of this course is not to take unnecessary risks and to play wisely.

Vin de Pays d’Oc,
Vin de Pays de l’Aude

Vin de Pays d’Oc, Vin de Pays de l’Aude

Vin de Pays means 'country wine' to the French, but to outsiders it can mean New World with a French accent. These are the wines which the French authorities unreservedly allow to be labelled with the grape variety from which they were made. It is difficult to over-estimate the importance of this large and growing category of wines for the future of the French wine trade. The French themselves may have tended to see any Vin de Pays as distinctly inferior to any appellation contrôlée wine, whereas many of their customers abroad see the better Vins de Pays as good-value, user-friendly, sometimes high-quality non-conformist emissaries from the world's most revered wine producer....

The Grapes

The Grapes

There are thousands of grape varieties contributing to a vast array of different wine styles with each variety having its own distinct flavours and characteristics. Varieties can be made uniquely to make a wine, in whch case the wine is known as a varietal, or collectively with other varities, when the wine is known as a blend. The soils and ‘terroirs’ in the Aude area are very varied, from Schist, Sandstone, Marl, Gravel, Pebbles, Limestone, to Granit and Alluvial soil; thus making many marvelous and different styles of wine. Also in this massive area are many different grape varieties, the reds include Carignon, Cinsault, Granache Noir, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. The whites, Chardonnay, Granache blanc, Picpoul, Marsanne, Roussanne, Vermantino, Mauzac, Chenin and Clairette...

Oppidum d'Ensérune - Nissan-lez-Ensérune

Come and visit the archaeological site of Ensérune lying ten kilometres from Béziers between the Languedoc garrigues and the shores of the Mediterranean, and discover one of the most important Gaulish villages in the South of France. The Oppidum d'Ensérune is an ancient hill-town (or oppidum) near the village of Nissan-lez-Ensérune, France, located between Béziers and Narbonne close to the D609 (formerly RN9) and Canal du Midi.  The fields at Montady, below the Oppidum was the swamp of Montady, which is now wedge shaped fields separated by irrigation ditches that converge in the centre. In the 13th century, the swamp was drained; the ditches allowed water to flow to the centre of the circular depression, from which it was conveyed through underground pipes several kilometres to the south. The drainage is still functional and remains in use...
