Cantalric - Capendu

Overhung by the Montagne d'Alaric, surrounded by magnificent landscapes, the vineyard of Cantalric is situated in the heart of the”Pays Cathare”.

Cantalric groups five cellars of nearby municipalities which are Trèbes, Barbaira, Marseillette, Capendu and Comigne.

The wines of Coteaux de Miramont Coteaux-de-Miramont.
Located between Carcassonne and Lezignan, on the north side of the Alaric Mountain in Aude, the Miramont Castle had been in the centre of the Cathares epics, uprisings and guerrillas leaded from the Queribus Castle. The castle had been destroyed in 1211, during the Albigensian Crusade by the men of the Duke de Monfort.

Today, it only remains the south wall of the quadrangular Donjon. The site surroundings had been occupied from the Bronze Age, the Gallo-Romans had been able to use this unique place as an oppidum, hypotheses are multiple.

The history of Miramont is far from being really known these days, however the composition of the name Mira and Mont means "we look at things from far ".

L’UCAVCA (Union coopérative agricole vinicole des coteaux de l’Alaric) is a producer group situated on the wine-growing region of Languedoc-Roussillon, on the area of Corbières and Minervois. catalogue-2010-2The headquarter premises are placed on the largest tourist axis of the department of the Aude which connects the Mediterranean to the Pyrenees, while passing by the City of Carcassonne. Our Vineyards, in the heart of the Pays Cathare, offer a beautiful landscape, overhung by the Alaric Mountain. Cantalric is a groupment of five co-operative cellars of common neighbors who are: Trèbes, Barbaira, Marseillette, Capendu et Comigne. The average annual production is of 140 000 hls. Our range is declined in AOC Corbieres, AOC Minervois, VDP d’Oc, VDP Cathare et VDP des Coteaux de Miramont...

Our wines combine both modernity and tradition: our top-of-the-range vintages results from grapes selected from plots with low yields and their good medical state. These vintages grapes are gathered manually. All our products are vinified in stainless steel vats and the winemaking is completed by using high-tech tools, while keeping the authentic character and the expression of our soils. Some benefit from a breeding out of barrels of oak. Our winegrowers have followed the trend and now propose seven different grape varieties. These grape varieties are commercialized under different brands: “Les Sentiers du Sud” for Merlot, Cabernet-Sauvignon, Sauvignon and Chasan. « Doux Rendez-vous » for Syrah, Chardonnay and Cinsault Rosé These wines are also declined in five and ten liters Bag-in-box. Since the beginning of this year, we also offer Merlot, Cinsault rosé and Chardonnay in 3 liters Bag-in-box. As the years pass by, the winegrowers of Cantalric do their best to satisfy your needs.
We wish you an excellent tasting.

Vin de Pays d’Oc,
Vin de Pays de l’Aude

Vin de Pays d’Oc, Vin de Pays de l’Aude

Vin de Pays means 'country wine' to the French, but to outsiders it can mean New World with a French accent. These are the wines which the French authorities unreservedly allow to be labelled with the grape variety from which they were made. It is difficult to over-estimate the importance of this large and growing category of wines for the future of the French wine trade. The French themselves may have tended to see any Vin de Pays as distinctly inferior to any appellation contrôlée wine, whereas many of their customers abroad see the better Vins de Pays as good-value, user-friendly, sometimes high-quality non-conformist emissaries from the world's most revered wine producer....
