Musée du Verre de Sorèze - Sorèze

Located south of the Tarn at the foot of the Montagne Noire, Sorèze a museum of glass unique, housed in the former hospital of the town built under Charles X.
It was created in 1996 by Yves Blaquiere, erudite man, passionate about history and glass. The association "Les Amis de Sorèze", which was created in 1998, manages the museum with the support of the mayor and organizes exhibitions and conferences.

The museum currently contains over 1600 pieces of glass - from antiquity to the mid-twentieth century - gained through a reasoned policy of purchase and the generosity of many donors
Two major specificities characterize collections:
- Drinking glasses seventeenth to the nineteenth century
- The blue-green glass of Languedoc

The Museum of Glass is a valuable cultural development of the city of Sorèze.
"Like a fingerprint, the breath of the glass marked his time, in this village where mind blowing and southerly wind"...

Cabardès

A.O.C. Cabardès

The Cabardès region is situated to the west of Languedoc and to the south of the central massif, a geologist's dream, balanced between east and west, the sun and the coolness, the heathland and the mountain. It is here that the winds cross. They bring the intense mediterranean heat necessary for southern "cépages" (grape types) such as syrah and grenache, and the cool atlantic humidity for the ocean "cépages": merlot, cabernet-sauvignon, cabernet-franc, cot and fer-servadou, to prosper. The vineyards and wines of Cabardès have been recognized as AOC since february 1999. The quality of the grapes, the wine-making, the blending of the "cépages" and the keeping of the wines has allowed us to obtain the best balance between fruit and structure, fullness and complexity, intensity and elegance. Cabardès assembles 30 châteaux and domaines over 500 productive hectares spread amongst 18 villages. 20000 hectolitres are produced each year,of which 60% are exported....

Vin de Pays d’Oc,
Vin de Pays de l’Aude

Vin de Pays d’Oc, Vin de Pays de l’Aude

Vin de Pays means 'country wine' to the French, but to outsiders it can mean New World with a French accent. These are the wines which the French authorities unreservedly allow to be labelled with the grape variety from which they were made. It is difficult to over-estimate the importance of this large and growing category of wines for the future of the French wine trade. The French themselves may have tended to see any Vin de Pays as distinctly inferior to any appellation contrôlée wine, whereas many of their customers abroad see the better Vins de Pays as good-value, user-friendly, sometimes high-quality non-conformist emissaries from the world's most revered wine producer....

Musée & Jardins du Canal du Midi

Musée & Jardins du Canal du Midi - Lac de Saint-Ferréol/Revel

Located in the heart of the Montagne Noir, at the junction of three departments (Haute-Garonne, Tarn and Aude), the basin of St. Ferreol is for generations, one of the favorite rendezvous of Recreational enthusiasts and outdoor. Its beach, its supervised swimming, water sports, fishing preserve its and its picnic areas are forgetting that Lake St. Ferreol is primarily a retention pond, the centerpiece of the supply network of channel noon! It is in this natural setting that from the early 19th century, romantic gardens were gradually developed. In 1855, the installation of the water jet endowed them with a refreshing atmosphere for strolling and loitering. Instead of approval, the gardens of the museum can also discover the hydraulic principles that govern the supply of canal water. The "ps" (available to groups by reservation), lets get to the heart of the dam and reach the control system and valves installed in 1829. They top a second gallery, "the vault drain", inaccessible to the public and which is currently the main flow of water in the basin....

Durfort village artisanal du cuivre

Durfort village artisanal du cuivre

Durfort, the entrance to the Montagne Noir. The village of Durfort is located in the Tarn between Revel in the Haute-Garonne and the Tarn Sorèze. It borders the banks of the Sorbonne, the local river leads down to the Montagne Noir. The picturesque village is built around the Place du Plo. You will discover many ancient corbelled houses by browsing through the streets patrolled by a central channel where water flows clear and abundant. With the development of tourism, Durfort was able to attract quality craftsmen (copper, leather, glass, jewelry and basket maker, etc ...). A major company established since 1965 is cured...

Restaurant Le Comptoir de l'Horte - Revel

Restaurant Le Comptoir de l'Horte reopened last year with a new owner and new chef! The luntarily minimalist, even enigmatic descriptions on the concise menu are designed to invite discussion and questions and tantalise your taste buds! Behind the 'pressed vegetables' and 'foie gras and mango' are delicious up-to-date, well-prepared and flavoursome dishes. ..."We went with friends in July 2011. The food was absolutely sensational. Very creative, loads of wonderful combinations (flavoured ice as garnish??). It really is a foodie heaven. Its not cheap (around 25 euros for a main), but is better than anything else nearby. We found the lunch time set menu to offer some of the best value around at 16€ for 3 courses, a seafood mousse followed by a pork dish served with a ratatouille sauce and pasta and then followed by a chocolate and strawberry dessert. The house wine was very good and the service was at all time friendly, yet very professional. Everything tasted very fresh and well prepared and not only will we be back more often, but we will also be sure to recommend it to our guests"...

Revel

Revel

Surrounded by sunflowers and poppies. The town of Revel, which is in the east of the Haute-Garonne department of south-west France, is a market town lying on a flat plain, resplendent in early summer with sunflowers and poppies. Corn and garlic are also grown here, agriculture being a dictator of the changing seasonal landscapes as always in rural France. A market town par excellence! Its Saturday extravaganza truly is a superb example of a French general market at its very best. Revel has a huge Saturday morning market which is attended by both locals and visitors, some of whom have travelled considerable distances to savour the atmosphere and the goods on offer here. The hub of the market, the food and fresh produce stalls, are situated in the central market square, which is a gorgeous covered arcade, typical in its bastide styling, yet more beautiful than most. The market spreads out around the town, but the heart is most definitely here in this very traditional square...
