Les Meulières - La Livinière

Located at the foot of the Montagne Noire, in the little village of La Livinière, the restaurant, which seats 60, was established in 2009 by Jonathan Plieu.
The service is attentive and considerate and the cuisine is creative with expertly balanced flavours. The dishes are prepared using a variety of local produce, including some organic products.
La Livinière
In the summer you can sample seasonal local specialities accompanied by the best Minervois wines under the shade of the mulberry trees on the terrace.

The restaurant also has two dining rooms for group bookings and can cater banquets for up to 200 people in the village’s community hall. From May to August, entertainment is provided in the square with music and a wine bar.
  Specialities

Minervois La Liviniere is a red wine appellation of the Languedoc region in southern France. La Liviniere is a commune in the north of the area covered by the Minervois appellation, with a reputation for producing some of the finest red wines of the region.

After their wines were classified as AOC Minervois in 1985, the producers of La Liviniere spent 10 years lobbying the INAO (the government body in charge of France's appellation system) for their own, more-specific appellation; eventually they were successful.

The area's terroir is characterized by a Mediterranean climate and classic southern-French garrigue landscape. Garrigue is the quintessential Provencal landscape of dry, limestone-based scrubland, populated by hardy herbs such as rosemary and lavender. It is this soil make-up which sets La Liviniere apart from the rest of Minervois.

Château Maris

Château Maris - La livinière

A.O.C. MinervoisChateau Maris is situated in the high altitude vineyards of the finest wine producing area of Minervois, La Livinière. Owned by Robert Eden, son of the British Priminister, Chateau Maris is one of the rising stars of the new appellation of La La Livinière. Since 1997 the vineyards at Chateau Maris have been progressively converted to the biodynamic method. Eden follows the annual biodynamic sowing calendar, where harvesting and planting are dictated by the rhythms of the sun, moon, planets and stars. It’s not uncommon for people who are new to organic and biodynamic wines to query the extent to which a wine estate can be ‘completely’ organic. Surely, they ask, the organic commitment begins and ends in the vineyard? Well no – and especially not at Château Maris...

Château
de Gourgazaud

Château de Gourgazaud - La livinière

A.O.C. MinervoisThe Château de Gourgazaud, sheltered by the lower slopes of the Montagne Noire, was one of the pioneers in the development of top-quality wines from the Minervois. The Château is mentioned on maps from the 17th century. Its vineyard, covering an area of 100 hectares, shelters a wide range of grape varieties, producing red or white wines: Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cabernet Sauvignon, Viognier, Chardonnay and Sauvignon. For every grape grower, each passing season is a cause for speculation and concern through to harvest time. Will nature's elements, in the form of rain, frost, hail and sunshine, unleash their sometimes turbulent but more often beneficial forces in line with the seasonal calendar. In some ways, we might be likened to mariners whose sails are alternately filled with the great Le Cers wind blowing in from the west or the humidity- and rain-filled gusts of Le Marin. The rains in autumn and early winter help replenish the land's water reserves while the chilly months of December, January and February offer the vine some welcome respite from periods of frenetic growth...

Musée Hurepel de Minerve

Musée Hurepel de Minerve - Minerve

Using dioramas (original figurines presented in various scenes), the museum tells the story of the tragic saga of the Occitan Cathars. In the 13th century, the catholic princes, spurred on by Pope Innocent III, decided to put an end to Cathar influence in the provinces of Languedoc, Simon de Montfort came to impose the law and the catholic faith in Languedoc by force and fire. The local barons and knights then took up arms to defend their land, their faith and their culture. Following many years of combat, they lost their independence and were forced, in humiliation, to witness the martyrdom of the Cathars under their protection, who were burnt at the stake on enormous pyres...

Le Musée du Château de Ventenac

Le Musée du Château de Ventenac - Ventenac-en-Minervois

A place, a history, a passion ... Cross the aisle vault, lined tanks of old Verrees, enter the heart of our cave and visit the museum. Follow the marked route and discover the old tools, cooperage, carriages and wagons old. The Castle of Ventenac was erected in the eighteenth century on the foundations of an ancient castle. The name of Ventenac is its etymology in Roman times: Villa Ventenachus. Castrum Venthenacum was taken in the twelfth century by Simon de Montfort at the time of the Cathars. This is the nineteenth century that Ms. Seguy Saint Siran built the castle in its present form, giving it its prestigious appearance reminiscent of a religious building. At his death, the vineyard, the cellar and the castle became the property of Pauline Meyer. It is in 1938 that deal with the threat of war, the Meyer family left France....

La Curiosité de L'Auriol (Lauriole)

La Curiosité de L'Auriol (Lauriole)

The Curiosité de Lauriole is not a place where you can find something to buy or other interesting things, no it's really an insignificant piece of road with only an optical illusion. When we were there for the first time we looked everywhere for something special but did not find anything. After a little search on google we found an interpretation of this phenomenon. What you have to do to find the cache is just to find out the secret of the Curiosité de Lauriole. You can put your car at one of this coordinates and just set your gear in the free and leave the breaks... because of the optical illusion you will think the car goes that direction but it's not!!!
