The Marandou estate is situated close to the Canal du Midi, between Toulouse, Carcassonne and Albi.

The house is surrounded by one hectare of land, with hundred-year-old pine trees.

Spacious and airy house with six bedrooms, which could accommodate up to 12 guests in the heart of the countryside.

Entirely renovated authentic house, decorated with a mix of traditional and modern furniture.

The snowy caps of the Pyrenees mountains can be seen in the distance from the property. The villa is surrounded by cedar and pine trees among rolling country fields, giving the property a sense of seclusion while still being bright, airy and spacious.

There are five golf courses locally. The Lauragais area offers several trails for walking and cycling, the preferred modes of transportation for many visitors to the region.

Both natural and engineered attractions are plentiful in the region. The Bassin de Saint-Ferréol is nearby, a man made lake created over three hundred years ago as a vital part of the scenic Canal du Midi.

The canal itself, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, was originally made to enable ships from the Atlantic regions to travel to the Mediterranean Sea without having to sail around Spain, the enemy at the time.

The reservoir Lac de la Ganguise, only ten kilometers away away, offering swimming, boating and fishing, is a scenic and peaceful place to enjoy the warm dry summer season.

A.O.C. Cabardès

The Cabardès region is situated to the west of Languedoc and to the south of the central massif, a geologist's dream, balanced between east and west, the sun and the coolness, the heathland and the mountain. It is here that the winds cross. They bring the intense mediterranean heat necessary for southern "cépages" (grape types) such as syrah and grenache, and the cool atlantic humidity for the ocean "cépages": merlot, cabernet-sauvignon, cabernet-franc, cot and fer-servadou, to prosper. The vineyards and wines of Cabardès have been recognized as AOC since february 1999. The quality of the grapes, the wine-making, the blending of the "cépages" and the keeping of the wines has allowed us to obtain the best balance between fruit and structure, fullness and complexity, intensity and elegance. Cabardès assembles 30 châteaux and domaines over 500 productive hectares spread amongst 18 villages. 20000 hectolitres are produced each year,of which 60% are exported....

A.O.C. Malepère

The Malepère region was awarded AOC status on May 2nd 2007. It is a hilly area south-west of the city of Carcassonne which is included in the appellation along with 31 other towns and villages. Although the area claims a great history of wine making it was in the 1970’s that the vineyards began to be replanted and VDQS status was granted. VDQS is the intermediary wine designation between Vin de Pays and AOC and is a testing ground for would-be AOC’s to prove that wines from all the producers share a common personality before they can be awarded full AOC status. Although an obscure region the Malepère is well worth a visit and offers a very different terrain to the more recognizable Languedoc appellations. There are many interesting medieval circular villages to visit. They were built this way to form ramparts to act as protection for the inhabitants. The Cathar religion was strong here and the area is immersed in history and folklore...

Although not strictly in Languedoc, Toulouse is France’s sixth largest city and is understandably a big draw for visitors in the west of the region. A former capital of Languedoc, this city boasts attraction after attraction: stunning medieval churches, grand private mansions that add an extra air of elegance to an already gracious city, and buildings fashioned out of soft pink brick which, as the sun sets, reflect the fading rays in a magnificently soporific show of light. Toulouse has a life about it, unrivalled by any other city in the region; vibrant, energetic and proud. Home to European aircraft manufacturer, Airbus, this is also one of the best connected cities in the entire south of France. Founded on the Garonne river as Tolosa, the city was moved to its present position by the Romans in 120 BC. Following the collapse of the Roman empire, Toulouse came under the control of various local counts who gradually extended their dominance over much of southern France. However, things came to a bloody end in 1271 when forces from northern France finally tired of the city’s increasing support for Catharism and launched a crusade against the heretics. The Catholic victory led to the establishment of the university in the early thirteenth century. A major breakthrough in Toulouse’s fortunes came with the completion of the Canal du Midi in 1666 which provided the city with access to the sea. Occupied by the Nazis during World War 2, thankfully the city escaped the worst ravages of the war and today the city is a prosperous centre of hi-tech industry...

Le Domaine Estolosa

Golf Le Domaine Estolosa - Drémil Lafage

9 Holes, Par 68 - 4,400 metres. Created on the way of Saint James of Compostela, Estolosa’s course is a par 68 which is 4400 meters long. The course is rather short, which explains that the slope is 124. A quite technical course but approachable to beginners, golf players will be able to enjoy its hilly pattern and the characteristic of each hole. In the middle of the hole N°8, there is an historical obstacle : a big oak tree many times centenarian. At its foot was found a cross of Saint James during the building of the course. The oak tree, symbol of strength and longevity, was considered by the pilgrims as a link between earth and sky. It’s told that this tree was the gathering place between the ones who were beginning their pilgrimage and the ones who were already on the way to Santiago de Compostela...
