Chez Prano - Durban-Corbières
The contemporary decor is bathed in light thanks to the bay windows. We create a brasserie kitchen. Indeed, we serve you brewery meat, fresh pasta and fish. All our dishes are homemade.

We are proud of the dishes we prepared to serve you. Reserve your seats at Chez Prano to experience an authentic moment with unique flavors.
Chez Prano is in the lovely village of Durban Corbiere and is a trendy yet very French bistro/bar.

At weekends especially it is frequented by the rugby crowd as Alexis Prano used to play locally and now sponsors the local team. All rugby will be shown on the two large tv screens.

Out of season there is a limited menu but with steak, burger or a cheese dish available there is something for everyone. We were a party of 10 including two children and although there is not a special children's menu they happily ate a Donor Kebab with chips.

The prices are very reasonable and the food is served fairly quickly. The meat was cooked under our requests so it pays to ask for the next one up to normal I.e. If you want rare ask for medium rare etc.

Alexis and his wife run the place and are very friendly and made us feel extremely welcome.

As some of our party have just moved into the village we expect to return many times and become regulars.

Corbières

A.O.C. Corbières

The Corbières is one of the wildest areas of France with one of the lowest population densities. It is picturesque with wine growing areas alternating with garigue and mountainous countryside. It is located mainly in the Aude département and partly in the Pyrénées-Orientales département. The River Aude borders the Corbières to the west and north. To the south is the River Agly and to the east the the Mediterranean Sea. The name Corbières comes from "cor" a pre-Celtic word meaning "rock" and "berre" from the River Berre which runs through Durban. The eastern part of the Corbières with its Etangs, borders the the Mediterranean Sea and is called the Corbières maritimes. It has its own distinctive climate and characteristic vegetation known as thermomediterranean vegetation...

Gléon Montanié

Château Gléon Montanié - Durban-Corbières

A.O.C. CorbièresThe origins of the Domaine de Gléon estate can be traced back to ancient times. Evidence of this lies in the many Gallo-Roman and Visigoth remains (Gaufresenque pottery, pre-Romanesque chapel). For ten centuries the estate belonged to the Treille-Gléon-Durban-Narbonne family. Château Gléon guarded access to the Hautes-Corbières. It was besieged by the Spanish in 1503. The last Marquis of Gléon sold the estate to the ancestors of the current owners in 1861. Since then, the Château Gléon has been run by the Bonnes family, and latterly by the Montanié family, handed down from father to son. There have thus been six generations safeguarding the prosperity and quality of the castle's lands. The first "bottling" dates back from the end of the 19th century. The Estate lies at the gateway to the Hautes-Corbières, in the canton of Durban, attached to the village of Villesèque-des-Corbières, at the entrance to what is known as Paradise Valley. It covers 303 ha/750 acres, including 50 ha/150 acres of vineyards...

Sentier
Le Gourg de Talairan

Le Gourg de Talairan - Talairan

Talairan, fortified village. You can walk through the vineyards at the edge of the cliffs and the dried up river Nielle. You can also admire the clear waters of Gourg Goutonnier... Leave the village on the D323. You’ll walk past a basin (known as the “lavoir à pétales”, the petal washtub), extremely pleasant during the warm summer months. Take the chemin de la Croisette which will take you to the Notre-Dame-de-l’Ere chapel. Follow for about 600 m, before climbing the Buffanel on a small path to the left through the garrigue on the edge of the superb Gorges of the Nielle stream, twisting and turning 100 m below. Walk up along the gorges on a small ridge path, and continue alongside a fenced vineyard...

Le Jardin Botanique de Foncaude

Le Jardin Botanique de Foncaude - Feuilla

A botanical garden created in 1991, set in an outstanding, wild "garrigue" landscape - the typical scrubland of the south. The garden covers 7.5 hectares and is made up of three parts. The arboretum has more than 300 species of trees, shrubs, palms and conifers - 2,500 trees have been planted here. The cactus rock gardens have around 8,000 plants (including 1,300 different species). The Mediterranean zone has about 340 species. It is one of the largest collections of ground-planted cacti and succulents in France and also boasts a collection of agaves....

Auberge
du Vieux Puits

Auberge du Vieux Puits - Fontjoncouse

If you love excellent food and wine, then there can be no finer restaurant in the South of France as Auberge du Vieux Puits. This 3 star Michelin restaurant is run by the celebrated French chef, Gilles Goujon. I can not recommend this restaurant highly enough. The food, the service, the wine, the cheese . . . all were excellent. Nobody has given Gilles Goujon anything for free. On the contrary. In a bucolic atmosphere far from the mundane noise, in an austere building –sold by the tiny Town Hall– he has been progressively restoring for a decade, he has been able to captivate plenty of customers and reach the top of the French guides: 5 hats in Gault Millau and 3 stars in Michelin. We can say we are before a self-made man who had to fight and sweat blood to reach fame; a fame very few chefs deserve so clearly....
