Château Massamier La Mignarde - Pépieux

Le Château Massamier La Mignarde is a vineyard of 70 hectares located at the foot of the Black mountains, near the ancient city of Minerve. At the time of the Roman Empire, a legion named Maximus seattled in a villa, he gave the name of Maximana, which is now Massamier.
Château Massamier La Mignarde - Pépieux
Its history is essentially linked to that of the Minervois region since the first written citing the Pagus Menerbensis (Minervois) date of 836 and recounts a dispute concerning the delimitation of territory of Maximiana.

The owners, the Vènes family, have been there for generations in Minervois, will help you to discover its history. Impassioned by the wine, they have devoted a lot of time and energy in the pursuit of quality.

  Specialties

The vineyard Château Massamier La Mignarde extends from an altitude of 70 metres to 370 metres, and the Montagne Noire is 1200 meters high, so we have beautiful thermal amplitudes between day and night and beautiful freshness in wines. The Château has well grouped plots not excluding a variety of expositions, terroirs and reliefs.

Château Massamier La Mignarde is focusing on work of the quality, it is inspiring by ancient savoir-faire while considering what modernity can bring to the wine. Thus the wine-growing machinery is privileged in order to remove weed killers. The treatments are reduced to an absolute minimum with reduced doses. The wine estate is working on a project for the rehabilitation of the forgotten grape varieties: black Aubun, Trepat, Grand Noir of la Calmette, Rivairenc, Picpoul Noir, etc.

We attach great importance to harvest on the best date: either before or after to have the best balance between alcohol, acidity and tannins; the harvest is dictated by a tasting of the berries: if the grapes are ripe with fine and ripe tannins, and it is confirmed by laboratory analysis, then we can pick them.

Minervois

A.O.C. Minervois

The Minervois is one of the most ancient vineyards of the Mediterranean region. Indeed, its land was chosen by the Romans as providing ideal conditions for the first vines they planted in Languedoc Roussillon. Its name comes from the ancient city of Minerve, a stronghold built by the Romans and dedicated to the goddess Minerva. Since that time, many amphora shards and vestiges of cellars have been discovered, testimony to the importance of this vineyard. The region, austere in winter and redolent with sunshine in summer, has survived over the centuries its invasions by barbarians, Arabs and Christians. The essence of Minervois la Livinière, as in so many Midi appellations, is the blend; a marriage of different grape varieties that adds subtle nuance of flavour to the whole. Natural alcohol level must reach a minimum of 12% without enrichment (so no chaptalisation) and maximum yield is a modest 45 hl/ha. Ageing may be in barrel or vat, and unlike basic Minervois, the wine must be bottled at source, so cannot be sent off to a négociant elsewhere in France...

Vin de Pays d’Oc,
Vin de Pays de l’Aude

Vin de Pays d’Oc, Vin de Pays de l’Aude

Vin de Pays means 'country wine' to the French, but to outsiders it can mean New World with a French accent. These are the wines which the French authorities unreservedly allow to be labelled with the grape variety from which they were made. It is difficult to over-estimate the importance of this large and growing category of wines for the future of the French wine trade. The French themselves may have tended to see any Vin de Pays as distinctly inferior to any appellation contrôlée wine, whereas many of their customers abroad see the better Vins de Pays as good-value, user-friendly, sometimes high-quality non-conformist emissaries from the world's most revered wine producer....

La Curiosité de L'Auriol (Lauriole)

La Curiosité de L'Auriol (Lauriole)

The Curiosité de Lauriole is not a place where you can find something to buy or other interesting things, no it's really an insignificant piece of road with only an optical illusion. When we were there for the first time we looked everywhere for something special but did not find anything. After a little search on google we found an interpretation of this phenomenon. What you have to do to find the cache is just to find out the secret of the Curiosité de Lauriole. You can put your car at one of this coordinates and just set your gear in the free and leave the breaks... because of the optical illusion you will think the car goes that direction but it's not!!!

Musée Hurepel
de Minerve

Musée Hurepel de Minerve - Minerve

Using dioramas (original figurines presented in various scenes), the museum tells the story of the tragic saga of the Occitan Cathars. In the 13th century, the catholic princes, spurred on by Pope Innocent III, decided to put an end to Cathar influence in the provinces of Languedoc, Simon de Montfort came to impose the law and the catholic faith in Languedoc by force and fire. The local barons and knights then took up arms to defend their land, their faith and their culture. Following many years of combat, they lost their independence and were forced, in humiliation, to witness the martyrdom of the Cathars under their protection, who were burnt at the stake on enormous pyres...
