Corbières

A.O.C. Corbières

The Corbières is one of the wildest areas of France with one of the lowest population densities. It is picturesque with wine growing areas alternating with garigue and mountainous countryside. It is located mainly in the Aude département and partly in the Pyrénées-Orientales département. The River Aude borders the Corbières to the west and north. To the south is the River Agly and to the east the the Mediterranean Sea. The name Corbières comes from "cor" a pre-Celtic word meaning "rock" and "berre" from the River Berre which runs through Durban. The eastern part of the Corbières with its Etangs, borders the the Mediterranean Sea and is called the Corbières maritimes. It has its own distinctive climate and characteristic vegetation known as thermomediterranean vegetation...

Vin de Pays d’Oc,
Vin de Pays de l’Aude

Vin de Pays d’Oc, Vin de Pays de l’Aude

Vin de Pays means 'country wine' to the French, but to outsiders it can mean New World with a French accent. These are the wines which the French authorities unreservedly allow to be labelled with the grape variety from which they were made. It is difficult to over-estimate the importance of this large and growing category of wines for the future of the French wine trade. The French themselves may have tended to see any Vin de Pays as distinctly inferior to any appellation contrôlée wine, whereas many of their customers abroad see the better Vins de Pays as good-value, user-friendly, sometimes high-quality non-conformist emissaries from the world's most revered wine producer....

Restaurant S Comme... - Palaja

Since last year, Château de Palaja has established a restaurant located in the former stables. Its decoration, both modern but retaining the architectural elements of the frame (stone, exposed beams ...) gives a set refined and warm, served by a service that meets the site. Her kitchen window you will see that the leader is that of fresh cooking depending on market days, and allows greater proximity to the cook. A particularly comprehensive wine list, you will enjoy at all prices, all the wines produced in the region (Corbières, Cabardes, Malepère, Minervois and Limoux...). For reasons of comfort of the guests, but also by the fact that the kitchen is made that charge, the number of covered services is limited to 35. In fine weather, a terrace surrounded by stone walls in the middle of which stands a majestic olive bicentennial, will welcome you....
